This weekend! 🎉 I’m back for my 4th Pittsburgh Gaming Expo and this time, I’m leveling up 👾 Not only will I be returning as a judge for the cosplay contests taking place on Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3pm, but I’ll ALSO be hosting two panels:

Kings of the Klassic Arcade: Warren Davis & Brian F. Colin — Saturday at 5pm in the panel room

Apex Legends Ensemble Panel — Sunday at 1pm on the Main Stage

Really excited to put on my hosting hat for these two panels and ask some super fun questions! 🎤

I’ll also have prints and magnets for sale at my booth, located right outside the Main Stage room 😊 Can’t wait to see you all there 💙

🌼 Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers! 🌼

Finally posting this beautiful sunset photo of my Malon cosplay by Jeff Zoet Visuals ☀️ The yellow flowers popped so nicely with the colors of this cosplay - it was the perfect way to end this photoshoot!

Happy Batman Day! 🦇 I’m celebrating today by watching some of my favorite BTAS episodes, playing Batman games, and of course, sharing a few Batgirl cosplay photos 😉💛

⭐️ RESIDENT EVIL REVIEW ⭐️ (from a long time fan of all things Resident Evil, and spoiler-free!)

Was Resident Evil a great zombie/monster movie? Yes. Was it borderline a full blown comedy? Also yes. Was it a great adaptation of the Resident Evil world from the games?….welllll not so much from my perspective. 😅 And I can already hear you typing. “But Sarah! What about the scarcity of ammo? The monster evolving and chasing the main character? The little Easter eggs!!” All of those things are great. But the key element missing for me, was the classic Resident Evil atmosphere. I wish it wasn’t in the winter. I wish the entirety took place in Raccoon City and less so in a snowy countryside. I wish the music felt more reminiscent of classic Resident Evil and not modern horror films. I wish it took place in the 90s. There are 100 little nitpicks like this that made the movie feel more like a great modern thriller rather than a GREAT Resident Evil movie to me.

All of that being said: I liked it a ton more than Barbarian and Weapons. Zach Cregger is a master at suspense. I haven’t seen people jump next to me like that in a theater in a long time 😂 Austin Abrams gives the performance of a lifetime. He CARRIES in a role that could easily be botched. It was like watching someone play Resident Evil for the first time and they had no idea what they were doing - absolutely infuriating.

At the end of the day, I can’t argue that this isn’t the most well made Resident Evil movie. From a craftsmanship perspective, it’s S rank. But it never quite gave me the sense that I was in the world of the games I love so dearly. Regardless, what a year for the Resident Evil franchise in general! I hope all of this leads to more creative opportunities from fresh perspectives who want to take a stab at this world. 🧟‍♀️
