There appears to be a common trend in project management and that appears to be burnout. Aside from physicians, project managers have reported a high level of burnout.

Project Managers are high performers but experience burnout after a series of very reasonable trade-offs that continue to stack up on each other. What makes it hard for Project Managers to prevent this are the accolades, the praise, the promotions, or the recognition they've received.

Dmitrii Selkov’s session, “Your Dashboard is Lying: Restoring Visibility in Complex Programs,” gave us plenty to think about.

One line that really stuck with us:
💬 “We shouldn’t be status reporters, we should be decision enablers.”

And a question worth asking whenever a number is feeding a decision: Who wrote the definition?

-budget variance

-allocated resources/hours

Typically, we do NOT measure
-Decision Fatigue
-Mental Workload and overload
-Leadership bandwidth
-Emotional labor
-Recovery and Buffer Capacity
