That ant hill in your yard is holding a lot more than you'd think. ๐
A single fire ant mound can house anywhere from 100,000 to 250,000 workers, plus one or more egg-laying queens running the whole operation underground.
And the mound you see on the surface? That's the small part. The real colony lives below it, in a deep network of tunnels and chambers.
That's why knocking down a mound never works. You're barely scratching the top of a colony that just keeps rebuilding. To actually solve it, you have to treat the colony at the source.
Seeing mounds around your yard in North Houston? Let us take care of it the right way.
See the damage? Now meet what caused it. ๐ชต
Those are drywood termite swarmers, and when they come pouring out of the wood, the colony isn't coming. It's already here.
When drywood termites are ready to expand, they send out these winged swarmers to fly off, drop their wings, and start new colonies. Unlike other termites, they don't need soil or moisture. They live right inside the dry wood they eat, your framing, beams, and trim, so they hide where you'd never think to look.
A swarm like this is often the first time anyone realizes they're there.
Seeing swarmers or little piles of shed wings around your home in North Houston? Let us take a look before the damage adds up.

That mound in your yard? It's the tip of the iceberg. ๐
What you see on the surface is less than 10% of what's actually there. The real colony lives below, a deep network of tunnels and chambers running several feet down, holding up to 250,000 workers and a queen laying around 1,500 eggs a day.
That's why the DIY stuff doesn't work. Knocking down the mound or pouring something on top barely touches the surface. The colony underneath keeps right on going, and within days you're back where you started.
To actually solve a fire ant problem, you have to treat the colony itself, not the mound you can see.

People ask why pest control has to be quarterly. Can't you just treat once and be done?
Here's the honest answer: pest pressure never stops. Especially in a place like Houston. ๐
Three things keep the pressure on year round here:
๐ก๏ธ Heat. Our warm climate means pests stay active in seasons that would slow them down almost anywhere else.
๐ง๏ธ Rain. Every storm floods sewers and soil, pushing roaches, ants, and mosquitoes toward higher ground, which is often your home.
๐๏ธ Construction. Constant building disturbs established colonies and sends them looking for a new place to settle, and a nearby house works just fine.
A one-time treatment handles what's there today. It does nothing about the wave coming next month. Quarterly service keeps a protective barrier in place and lets us catch new activity before it becomes an infestation you can see.
It's the difference between reacting to pests and staying ahead of them.
We put our entomologist to work so you don't have to think about any of this. What would you ask a bug expert if you had the chance? Drop it below. ๐
