Dani Devours Maine
Supporting local, one delicious and occasionally questionable decision at a time. Mostly Maine. 🍽️

Got my hair did ✂️❤️
I handled the auburn at home, Connor handled the actual skill part and gave me these gorgeous layers and face-framing pieces.
Feeling very fall, very refreshed, very “maybe I do have my life together.” 🍂
(I don’t 😂)

-100/10 if I could go back in time I’d NEVER try these!
Colonel’s Favorite Jelly Beans Oh boy do we have a doozy of an episode for you all this week. KFC ...

Just a few hours until I assume my final form. 👻🎃
Freaky Funky Foods and Dani too took Boston! 😂
Brett, Jody, Josh and I headed down for a day trip during a nor’easter because apparently wind and rain aren’t enough to stop a bunch of Mainers. Honestly, they didn’t seem to stop anybody else either. 😂
We checked out the Museum of Illusions Boston, where we got some VERY ridiculous photos and videos. Admission was $41 per person and, while we definitely had fun, I don’t think it was worth that price. I’d call this a “fun to do once” kind of place.
Our real reason for heading to Boston, though? FOOD. 👀 We went to Fire + Ice, and that adventure is getting its own video!

When your job has perks! 💖
For our anniversary weekend, Kevin and I left Greater Portland and headed to Ogunquit to see The Producers at the Ogunquit Playhouse! 🎭❤️
If you haven’t seen a show here, I highly recommend it. There really aren’t bad seats, even though the two tall people in front of me tried their best to prove otherwise. 😂 I also love that they have captions on both sides of the stage. The productions are professional and feel pretty darn close to Broadway, just on a smaller stage.
The Producers was SO much fun and definitely the highlight of the day!
Afterward we had no dinner plan and ended up at Mekhong Thai in Wells.
I got the vegetable drunken noodles ($17), supposedly spice level 2, but I detected approximately zero heat. 😂 Lots of veggies, plus some unexpected pineapple and cherry tomatoes, but it actually tasted pretty good.
Kevin got the garlic chicken ($17) and found it pretty bland, and we both felt the food was missing that little bit of wok char and seasoning that makes stir-fried food really sing.
We also tried the fried Brussels sprouts ($9), which mostly tasted like Brussels sprouts doused in soy sauce.
Our server had great energy though, and I appreciated that she gave Kevin an honest recommendation when he was ordering.
Would we go back? Probably not. Nothing was bad, but with so many great places to eat in Southern Maine, “okay” just isn’t enough to bring me back.
Ogunquit Playhouse though? ABSOLUTELY. 🎭
🍴 Coastal Curry | Maine’s Indian Kitchen | Scarborough ME
This meal was complimentary, courtesy of Coastal Curry. No posting requirements, just my honest thoughts. 💖
Kevin ordered a salad at an Indian restaurant, and somehow it was one of my favorite things on the table. The tandoori chicken was tender, the greens were finely chopped, and the herbaceous dressing was SO good.
I also tried the spicy Gobi 65, which had me very thankful for my creamy mango lassi, plus juicy chicken momos with an addictive cilantro-forward chutney and a mild tikka masala with ridiculously fluffy basmati rice.
We arrived around 4:45 when it was still quiet, but the restaurant kept filling up while we were there, which was great to see. They were short-staffed and juggling takeout orders too, so things took a little longer, but they’re new and still finding their rhythm.
Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and they also offer a lunch buffet.
My one regret? Not ordering the $8.99 chocolate dosa from the kids menu. 😂
I’ll definitely be back.
And Kevin may never again be mocked for ordering a salad at an Indian restaurant.
Maybe.
Maine Cheese Festival, WOW! Absolutely downpouring at times, so many free samples, and some crazy long lines. Apparently, nothing comes between Mainers and their cheese! 🧀
I tagged along with Brett and Jody of Freaky Funky Foods , and we were already planning next year’s visit on the ride home. Hopefully with better weather!
For lunch, I had the General Tso’s poutine from Pinky D’s Poutine ($17). Totally unnecessary, but it went down VERY easily. 😂
My most interesting discovery was Soba Sparkle, sparkling buckwheat drinks from Buckwheat Tea Company. The balsam flavor especially caught my attention! I grabbed two balsam and two wild blueberry.
My haul included:
🧀 ChiGoBee Farm: A goat cheese sampler with candied pecan cranberry, Maine wild blueberry, blended herb, and plain cheese, plus sourdough bread and two goat milk caramels. Also grabbed their sourdough chocolate chip cookies!
🧀 Pumpkin Vine Family Farm: Dulcinea cheese.
🧀🍎 Dreamin’ Fahm: Garlic and onion cheese curds and apple c***r.
🍫 Torrey’s Muffins & Cookies: A pumpkin cream cheese brownie.
🧂 Chef Paul’s Tasting Table: Moroccan seasoning.
🍨 L’Atelier: Catch of the Day gelato, INCREDIBLE. The kind of good where you want to bring it into a dark room and do things with it. I said what I said. 😂🍨
My one shopping regret? Not buying the cottage cheese from Whey North Creamery! They were one of our first sample stops, and I wasn’t ready to commit. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Adult admission included an insulated cooler bag with cheese, water, a cheese storage bag, and a chill pack. On our way out, they gave us TWO MORE Pineland Farms cheeses because they had extras! You do not have to ask me twice. 🧀😂
My one wish for next year: designated covered seating with tables and chairs so people can sit and eat. Nobody can control the rain, but somewhere dry to enjoy that poutine would have been appreciated!
