For the 1st time, a youth will be hosting Hip Hop Happening! Join the vibe tomorrow at 12pm to watch Zay The Maker | Music Producer & Drummer | Artist lead in collaboration with a live band!

Flow Hub is LIVE every Sunday from 2 to 5. Beat production, live performance, jam sessions and recording vocals on a track. The space is full of energy, creativity and growth. Flowz Up!!!
It’s Hip Hop Week and Ascending Flow is out here in the pocket with our peoples.
Love and Respect to for coming through to drop knowledge and build with our youth. He dropped GEMS!!! He shared about the importance of everyone being co-creators in the space and encouraged everyone to use their voice and facilitated a dope discussion on style rooted in artists they’re listening to and then COOKED up some heat!!!

“I felt Deuce giving me props for the storytelling in the music video I directed.”
“When I came in Mani was sharing about asking producers questions about why they chose to place their snares in a certain pattern. I already think about that so it was cool to hear him say it.”
As an official Hip Hop Week event we also got to give his flowers. As one of the hardest working heads in the scene, he sets an example of how we can build community everywhere he goes. He’s always uplifting voices, playing the cuts and overall helping other folx dreams become a reality. We see you my brother and are grateful for the time, energy and joy you pour into the community!

Sunday Flow Hubs are a vibe with our youth. The M.A.D. Jazz crew building together for our Block Party on the 30th, sampling recs and chopping on the MPC, designing a clothing brand and writing a song. We’re live every Sunday for youth 13 to 18 who want a space to develop the skills necessary to chase their dreams. We over here doing what we wish we had coming up. Tap in.

Shout out to Speck's Records & Tapes for hooking our youth up with these custom crates from Morgan Harvey full of wax for sampling!
During Hip Hop Summer Camp youth learned how to sample from records and chop the sample for a beat. We have a dedicated sampling station set up in the Beat Lab so now it’s time to get busy!!!

Mani Draper will be in-town Headlining the Star Awards for Portland Hip Hop Week. He’s sliding through for a workshop on Saturday August 22nd at 11 AM to drop some gems on our youth. They will have an opportunity to learn about his work flow as he creates a beat live and then shares his writing process. We’ll take it to the studio next where youth will write their own bars and get a chance to spit on the beat. 10 spots available. Don’t sleep.
