This can help participants develop communication skills and strengthen teamwork, which can be essential in the maritime industry where safety often depends on effective collaboration.
3. Increased confidence: Participating in a line handling competition can help professionals build confidence in their abilities and feel more prepared to handle real-world challenges. This can be especially important for those who are new to the industry or who are looking to expand their skillset.

Justin Nunley said, “We need to go to the river…” so that’s exactly where we went. 😂
Meet Carson. He walked up wanting to throw a line, so we showed him how. A few minutes later, he’s catching it, throwing it off and getting a little taste of life on the river. 💪⚓️
That’s why we bring Maritime Throwdown to events like BBQ on the River in Paducah.
We can engage everybody — from retired rivermen who still get that look in their eye when they grab a line, to a 5- or 6-year-old kid doing it for the first time.
You never know which interaction plants the seed for a future mariner.
Recruit. Train. Retain. Sometimes recruiting starts with simply letting a kid throw a line. ⚓️
And for the towboaters — TODAY & TOMORROW, it’s your turn. 👀
Come put a score on the Maritime Throwdown leaderboard. Lowest score earns a spot in the Finals in Nashville, where $10,000 CASH is on the line! 💰🔥
