Sea lions definitely have their own definition of personal space. 😂

They just climb right over each other like it’s completely normal and somehow everyone eventually finds a spot.

Just another entertaining day watching wildlife on the Oregon Coast.

Rare sighting of the elusive Oregon flying orca. 😂🐋

Taken at the Lincoln City Kite Festival. For a split second, this one almost looks like it launched itself straight out of the Pacific.

A closer look at the Lincoln City Kite Festival. 🪁📸

There was a little bit of everything in the sky, from the enormous character kites floating over the beach to the smaller, fast-moving kites being maneuvered through the air.

I brought the Nikon and 100–400mm along, which ended up being the perfect setup for getting in tight and isolating some of the kites against the sky. Definitely one of those events where a telephoto lens gives you a completely different perspective.

A fun afternoon photographing something a little different on the Oregon Coast.

Which shot is your favorite?

The Lincoln City Kite Festival made for a pretty fun afternoon on the Oregon Coast. 🪁

Down on the beach, the sky was filled with some absolutely massive kites, while up above the sand there were people putting on some seriously impressive displays—diving, spinning and maneuvering their kites all over the sky.

It’s one of those events that’s just easy to enjoy. Grab some food, walk the beach, watch the kites and take in the Oregon Coast when the weather decides to cooperate.

Definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon in Lincoln City, and an event worth checking out when it comes around each year.

One of my favorite things about having a Jeep is where it can take you. Sometimes the best views aren’t at the end of the road, they’re where the road starts disappearing into the forest.

Found this little backcountry track near Mount Hood and loved the way the road pulled your eye straight through the trees. Exactly the kind of place I’m always hoping to find with a camera in hand.

Follow for more photography, backroads, and places worth getting a little lost for.

Orcas Island gave me just about everything I could ask for as a photographer.

Moody ferry crossings, moss-covered forests, quiet corners of Eastsound, little bursts of color, the waterfront, and those Pacific Northwest skies that seem to change every few minutes.

I put together 85 seconds of some of my favorite photographs from our time on the island. What I love most is that no single photo really defines Orcas. The darker, dramatic images feel just as much a part of the place as the flowers, storefronts and beautiful summer scenery.

This is exactly why I love travel photography. Trying to come home with more than pictures of the obvious places and instead capture a little bit of what it actually felt like to be there.

Take a look and let me know which image is your favorite.

And if you’re a destination, travel or outdoor brand looking for photography and video that tells the story of a place, I’d love to connect.

You don’t realize how much POWER goes into this until you see it up close. 🪓

Another event from the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan, this time from the ground. No chainsaw. Just an axe, a massive log, and a whole lot of strength, precision, and stamina.

Every swing has to hit exactly where it needs to, and watching these guys chop their way through a log this size is seriously impressive.

Would you even make it halfway through? 😂

POV: You thought the lumberjack show was just going to be a little cheesy… 😂🪵

Then you watch two lumberjacks run on a spinning log with their feet, and suddenly you’re completely invested. 🤣

It’s fast, ridiculous, entertaining… and you KNOW someone’s going in the water. 🌊😂

👉 Definitely a fun choice if you’re on an Alaska cruise and looking for something entertaining to do in town!

And yes… wait for the ending. 👀💦
