Community Matters

The HumbleBee Project reaches our own community and does good!
Enjoy connecting with others while assembling easy projects called HumbleBee Hugs to be donated to local Departments, Organizations and Non Profits serving children.

Whether filling, cutting, pinning, tagging, or just socializing, you're a part of the HumbleBee story and it feels AMAZING! No skills required, just a desire to make a difference. You'll be sending tangible messages of hope, compassion and care to children through your participation; because Community Matters!

Check it out at the next HumbleBee Wed, October 21st at 10:00!

One of the most community-minded people we've ever encountered... Mary Ellen Freer truly supports, uplifts, and believes in COMMUNITY! It's never about one individual or one organization. She frames every effort in love for Powhatan and her faith.

Community Matters has been improved and encouraged through her vision and talents and generosity!

🎄✨ PLEASE JOIN US IN WELCOMING YOUR 2026 POWHATAN CHRISTMAS MOTHER! ✨🎄
We are beyond thrilled to announce Mary Ellen Freer as the 2026 Powhatan Christmas Mother! ❤️
A proud Powhatan resident for 18 years, Mary Ellen has spent those years building friendships, serving her community and giving back through organizations including the Powhatan Chamber of Commerce, Community Matters, Habitat for Humanity Powhatan, The Free Clinic and many other charitable efforts.
Mary Ellen is the owner of DeSigns by Mary Ellen and, together with her husband, Bruce, is the proud mom of five and grandmother of nine. She loves family, friends, travel, entertaining—and most of all, finding ways to make a difference in the lives of others.
Her theme for this year is “A Community of Hope.” 💚
Mary Ellen believes that when we are fortunate enough to have something to give—our time, talents, resources or simply kindness—we should share it. As our 2026 Christmas Mother, she hopes to bring our community together to remind local families that they are seen, valued and cared for.
We are so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to see what A Community of Hope can accomplish when Powhatan comes together! 🎄❤️
Welcome, Mary Ellen! We are honored to have you lead us into the 2026 Christmas season!
