Celebrate National Honey Month with us at Plantable Nursery! 🍯
September is a sweet reminder of the incredible work bees do for our ecosystems—and our gardens! Did you know a single honeybee only produces about 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime? That's why every plant that attracts and nourishes them is so important.
For our Zone 9 friends in Redding, now is a fantastic time to plant for our buzzing friends! Here are a few pollinator-attracting plants that thrive in our area and will help support local honeybees, native bees, and other pollinators:
💜 Salvias (Sage): These are a go-to for a reason! They come in a huge variety of colors and are irresistible to bees and hummingbirds.
💛 Coneflower (Echinacea): A classic with a long bloom time, these daisy-like flowers are a pollinator magnet.
🦋 Milkweed (Asclepias): A must-have to support monarch butterflies, but it's also loved by a wide range of bees.
☀️ California Lilac (Ceanothus): A beautiful native shrub that provides critical food for many pollinators and is tough as nails in our climate.
🌿 Lavender: A fragrant favorite for both people and pollinators!
Come on down to the nursery and let our team help you pick out the perfect plants to create a buzzing, beautiful garden. Let's make our corner of California a haven for our hardworking honey-makers! 🐝

Here's what you can plant in September.
Why do we plant in September?
Cooler temperatures help plants establish strong roots. Plants have time to grow before the cold sets in. Enjoy a harvest of fresh vegetables all season long.
Come visit us at Plantable for your fall planting needs and don’t forget our PLANT SALE Thursday, Oct. 3rd-Saturday, Oct. 5th at 2018 California St. in Redding
