At approximately 0200 hours, your Redmond firefighters responded to the 27000 block of NE Ames Lake Road in unincorporated King County, within Fire District 34, after callers reported an explosion and a large amount of fire.

E114 arrived to find the residence fully involved with a partial structural collapse and immediately upgraded the incident to a second alarm. Crews initiated a defensive fire attack, with limited water supply requiring a water tender response.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and crews are still on scene as of 1000 hours. We are proud to serve the City of Redmond and District 34.

Thanks to IAFF Local 1762 and Bellevue (WA) Fire Dept for assistance.

Ladder 116 is consistently training on a variety of low frequency, high risk disciplines. With Redmond being the 10th in the United States for the most new housing units built in the last decade presents new challenges that we are adapting to. With most of these housing units being mid rise and high rise, our tech rescue team is presented with new rescue challenges that didn’t exist in the city even a decade ago. We are proud to serve the City of Redmond and Fire District 34.

If you thought this was the cast of The Pitt, you wouldn’t be the first one.

But these are actually some of our very own Redmond Firefighters, alongside member of Eastside Firefighters, beginning the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center Medic One Paramedic Training Program.

Over the coming year, they’ll take on an intensive combination of classroom education, clinical training, and hands-on experience as they work toward becoming paramedics.

We’re proud of our members for taking on the challenge and representing Redmond throughout the program.

Good luck white coats, we’ll see you soon!

Ever stretch a garden hose on a fire scene? What happens when an aid unit arrives first on an active fire scene?

Our aid units are staffed with 2 firefighter/EMTs at dedicated stations and a 3 person crew at the ‘cross-staffed’ stations. Being firefighters as well as EMTs, they are able to ‘set the scene’ for the incoming suppression units, evacuate occupants, and upgrade to more resources if needed. Because our aid units only carry a ‘water can’ and an extinguisher, the two firefighters are seen using the resources they have at hand to protect and cool the exposed home until an engine arrives on scene.

Them being EMTs as well as firefighters, they can transport patients to the hospital if needed, assume medical care, and assist with rehab of firefighters on big incidents. Our aid units are an integral part of our response model, just as our engines and ladder trucks are.

Thanks to our neighbors IAFF Local 1762 for the assistance.
