Take Command Health
We're a SaaS company delivering seamless defined contribution benefits with heart. Jack sought additional student loans to pay for the twins.
Take Command was born about the same time our founder Jack and his wife Brittany were surprised with a twin pregnancy–a huge blessing but an even bigger surprise. Jack and Brittany had just quit their jobs and moved across country so Jack could start graduate school at the Wharton School of Business. He spoke with doctors, hospital administrators, and insurance experts but was shocked to learn that no one could even give him a ballpark answer about how much the twins would cost. Jack met his co-founder Matt and focused the rest of his time at Wharton researching healthcare cost transparency and laying the foundation for what would become Take Command.

We surveyed more than 1,500 employees with a simple goal: understand how they felt about their health plan after living with it for the past year and how likely they were to choose it again.
The findings told us much more.
They revealed what shapes the way employees think about their coverage heading into Open Enrollment, from provider access and prescription coverage to affordability, usability and the experience of actually using their plan.
And they surfaced an important opportunity: understanding not just who plans to stay or switch, but why, and who hasn’t decided yet.
Our latest blog explores what we learned and what it means for employers, benefits consultants and carriers preparing for OE.

Before presenting another group health renewal increase, ask one more question:
Is the current plan still the best fit for this workforce, or is it being renewed because it is familiar?
ICHRA adoption among Applicable Large Employers is accelerating. For benefits consultants, that creates an opportunity to broaden the renewal conversation while clients still have time to evaluate their options.
Three signals that a mid-market or large client may be ready for an ICHRA evaluation:
⚠️ Renewal increases are becoming difficult to absorb or explain
⚠️ Employees are spread across markets where one group plan performs unevenly
⚠️ Different workforce populations have meaningfully different coverage needs
When those signals appear, starting early matters. Larger implementations take time to evaluate local markets, model contributions, confirm affordability, design employee classes, and prepare employees for a different enrollment experience.
Take Command helps consultants evaluate fit, model the strategy, and support clients from implementation through renewal.

What can 1,500+ employees teach us about Open Enrollment? A lot.
We surveyed employees after they’d lived with their health plan for a year to understand what really shapes the decision to stay, switch or reconsider their coverage.
One takeaway: price gets attention, but usable value earns loyalty.
Our new Open Enrollment Mindset explores what employees value, where friction shows up and what carriers, benefits consultants and employers can learn heading into OE.

Identifying an ICHRA opportunity is only the first step. Benefits consultants also need a practical way to evaluate it, model the options, and bring the client a clear recommendation.
That’s why Take Command created Partner Hub.
Available to members of Take Command’s Preferred Benefits Consultant Program, Partner Hub helps consultants create and explore ICHRA designs, assess potential savings, and compare contribution strategies for their clients.
The goal is simple: help benefits consultants move from identifying a possible ICHRA opportunity to presenting a client-ready design with greater speed and confidence.
Preferred Benefits Consultants also receive specialized training, ICHRA insights, sales resources, early access to new capabilities, and support from Take Command’s team throughout the evaluation and implementation process.
Not yet part of the program? You can still upload a client census and receive a custom ICHRA design within 48 business hours.

Clients are asking harder questions about benefits.
💸 How do we manage rising costs?
🍎 How do we offer more choice? 🍊
🌎 How do we design benefits for a workforce that is distributed, mobile, and harder to serve with one traditional group plan?
That is where brokers and Benefits Consultants have an opportunity to lead.
One of the biggest takeaways from Benefits Without Boundaries is that flexibility is not just a benefits trend. It is becoming a strategy conversation. 🚀
The shift toward defined contribution benefits changes the role of the advisor. Instead of only comparing group plan options, brokers are helping clients think through cost predictability, employee choice, market fit, and the support employees need when choosing coverage.
That is a higher-value conversation.
Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) are one model employers are evaluating as they look for more flexible ways to offer health benefits.
The opportunity is to help clients understand when the model makes sense, how to design it well, and how to support employees through the change. 🙋
If your clients are asking about flexibility, choice, and cost control, this is a conversation worth leading.
