With inflation and prices rising, life has been tough. Being on a fixed disability income with no dental or vision insurance, I’ve been living in pain with a bad tooth and recurring infections for over a year because I simply couldn't afford a dentist.

My fiancé was in a similar boat, dealing with insurance issues and relying on eyeglasses held together by safety pins because replacing them wasn't an option.

​When I first heard about the Love in Action non-profit event offering free dental, vision, medical exams and even hair cuts I was skeptical. I assumed there had to be a catch or strict requirements because nothing seems to be free or low cost anymore, But after speaking with Gail who is truly the sweetest woman she reassured me that the event was for everyone in need and that every provider was a professional donating their time.

​Even though I’m definitely not a morning person, waking up early for the event was the best decision I could have made. From the moment we arrived, every single person from the front-line volunteers to the dentists and eye doctors was friendly, energetic, and genuinely eager to help.

​Getting my tooth fixed back in June changed everything. After a full year of pain, I still catch myself panicking when I bite down, only to remember it’s finally healed.

Beyond the physical relief, this event was a bright light during a dark time. Living on a fixed income with limited resources can feel overwhelming, but what Gail and her team do for the community restored my faith that kindness and good people still exist. Small acts of kindness don't just help people—they rewrite their entire reality.

​My fiancé and I are so deeply grateful to Love In Action Inc. and every volunteer who gave their time. We are already looking forward to giving back by volunteering at a future Love in Action event as soon as we can!

She peeked in the door of the pick-up location skeptical there was a FREE pair of glasses for her.
Alice came to our last clinic not knowing what to expect. She was examined and she left thinking - this is still not real. So when she received the reminder to pick up she came in still thinking it was a prank.
Receiving her prescription was a dream come through - her gratitude was evident.
