This is an early German self contained air hammer. It utilizes a singular valve between chambers, so the valve must create pressure as well as suction. Because of this they are sometimes called a “vacuum chamber”. It is very similar in concept to a Pilkington hammer.

This hammer is in tip top shape overall, but will need a little work to get running again. It will require a new cushion plug to be made. This hammer has a slight “knock” on the upstroke. I had planned to make a cushion plug based on that of a Nazel, but I already have too many irons in the fire.

The lovely brass oiler is a drip oiler and will need lines (copper or plastic) plumbed to the three oiled areas. The top die is a drawing die. It is held in place with a straight dovetail and a tapered round pin (currently held by a bolt. The bottom die is a flat die. It will also need a motor mount. I have a low RPM motor I will include with it.

The rear cylinder is like new. Creates incredible pressure and is tight and smooth when turned over. The singular valve is quite a work of art, if you’re into geeky mechanical things like that.

This is a very appealing hammer in the sense of it’s small footprint. Not including a motor, it takes up no more floorspace than that of a 25 pound Little Giant. Also, it’s damn stylish!
