Many of these concerns are not about legal e-bikes but illegal e-motos sold through online retailers. In addition to cutting off access to the illegal devices, we would like to see New York State schools follow the state requirement to teach safe biking practices which rarely happens.

Well-intentioned laws could unintentionally discourage legitimate e-bike use which has been transformative for older adults, people carrying cargo or passengers, and people with limited mobility.
