Is the counter in your bathroom silently judging you? So did mine.
I kept buying cute storage containers but nothing looked quite right. Too plasticy. Too cold. Too โฆ not me. Then I thought, I can make exactly what I want with mini mason jars, some chalk paint and cabinet k***s from the hardware store.
The result? Bathroom organizers that look like they came from a boutique home store but I spent under $20 for all three. It has a chalky finish which gives a soft vintage look. Cabinet k***s turn plain lids into something special. And the jute bows and fabric trim? Pure farmhouse cozy.
This is the kind of project that makes you feel like a total crafting pro even if you've never considered yourself artistic. If I can do it, so can you.
What room in your house needs organizing the most? Kitchen cabinets? Bathroom counters? Craft room chaos? Tell me below! ๐

A friend tried to talk me off this project on FaceTime. She kept on suggesting other things. Still I kept going.
I texted her the finished photo and her exact response was "Is that THE BOX?! No way!!!"
And that, my crafting friends, is the magic of cardboard box crafts.
This was just a plain shipping box. It took about 90 minutes to make, and it became a gorgeous jute rope storage basket lined in sweet gingham fabric and cost me under $4 to make. (Mostly Dollar Tree rope, bless that store!)
Here's the secret that takes this from "cute DIY" to "boutique-worthy": Poly-fil batting in between the cardboard and fabric liner. That one step just smooths everything out and makes the liner look plush, full and professional. Do not miss it.
Now I am officially on a mission to make one of these for each room in my house. My craft room shelf already loves this one.
Save this post to remind yourself to try it. And leave a comment below: what would you store in yours? Craft supplies? Kitchen stuff? Bathroom towels? I love to hear how you would use it!

Thereโs been a mess of Mardi Gras beads sitting in my Pat OโBrienโs hurricane glass forโฆ well, let's call it โa while.โ I kept telling myself every time I walked past them that Iโd do something with those someday. Maybe you have a bag like that somewhere? ๐
Well, that day finally came and I am so happy I waited because this idea worked out better than I thought. I made those plastic beads into trim on a farmhouse pedestal stand using only chalky finish paint, a Dollar Tree candlestick, a wood plaque and some glue.
The secret is to dip the beads in a mix of paint and water instead of brushing it on each one. Itโs a game changer for coverage.
Now the stand sits on my shelf with a sunflower jar on it and it looks like something I would buy at a boutique. The best part? You can paint the beads whatever color feels right for your space, like gold for fall, sage for spring or red for the holidays. Same technique, infinite possibilities.
