🏁 FALL NATIONALS RECAP 🏁
The best way to describe this weekend? LONG, HOT, and full of emotions — from great moments to some really tough ones! But what did we do with all of that? We locked in, kept digging, and kept moving forward!
It’s been a LONG time — since April — since Josh has raced all four cars, and this weekend he jumped right back into all of them!
🔴 SR HONDA — Q4
Day 1: P4 ➡️ P4
Josh drove his heart out! He had great position for most of the race, but about 3/4 of the way through, contact resulted in Josh getting the strike and being sent to the tail. With only a few laps remaining, he put his head down and drove all the way back to P4! We were extremely proud of the fight he showed.
Day 2: P4 ➡️ P8
This one was a gamble. After seeing several cautions on Day 1 and then sitting through a two-hour rain delay, we expected the track to change and decided to make an adjustment assuming we would have a bunch of cautions. Unfortunately, our gamble didn’t go the way we hoped. That’s racing — sometimes you hit the setup and sometimes you learn from it. Still proud of what we accomplished!
🔴SR ANIMAL — Q2 ➡️ P4
Josh LOVES his Animal car, and unfortunately, no one regularly runs the class at our club seat time has been at a minimum, so qualifying P2 at Fall Nationals was exciting!
Josh drove as hard as he could and was battling for his first Animal podium, but unfortunately another call didn’t go our way and dropped him back to P4. He was absolutely bummed, but there wasn’t much time to dwell on it — we still had two more cars to race!
🔴LIGHT 160 — Q10 ➡️ P5
This car had recently been torn down and reassembled so Fall Nationals was basically our shakedown.
Unfortunately, Josh only got in two qualifying laps before his chain fell off, which put him at the tail for both races. Starting dead last both days P10 was no easy task, but he went to work and made some HARD passes through the field!
Day 1: P5
Day 2: P8
🔴LIGHT WORLD FORMULA
This class is still very new to Josh, and our biggest focus has simply been teaching him how to drive the car properly and get comfortable with it.
By the end of the weekend, we finally started seeing it CLICK! 🙌 Josh became much more comfortable and started driving the car the way we knew he could. Sometimes the biggest wins of a weekend don’t show up on the results sheet!
🔴GAVIN — JR HONDA
Gavin only had one car to focus on this weekend — his Jr Honda.
We were hoping for stronger qualifying runs, but it just wasn’t in his favor, putting him into the B Main both days.
Day 1: Gavin got the job done and transferred into the feature!
Day 2: He made a mistake on the final lap that cost him the transfer spot. Thankfully, he got a second chance by making the feature as the X car!
Passing has been something Gavin has struggled with lately, and it has definitely affected both his finishing positions and his confidence. But given that second opportunity, he went back out there and made a couple of GOOD passes! That was a big step forward for him and exactly what we wanted to see. Even though this weekend didn’t go so great for Gavin, he managed to lock in second place for the triple crown!
This weekend was exhausting. It tested the drivers, the cars, the crew, and probably everyone’s patience 😂 — but these boys NEVER QUIT.
Running five cars between two kids over a weekend like this takes a village, and none of it would be possible without the people who support these boys both on and off the track.
To everyone who helps turn wrenches, gives advice, supports our program, cheers for the boys, and continues to believe in them — THANK YOU! 💙
We didn’t leave Fall Nationals with all the trophies we wanted, but we left with more experience, more confidence, and two boys who kept fighting no matter what was thrown at them.
That’s a win in our book.
Special thanks to Raber Performance for all the support!

GavMan hit the track last night at our home track North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) and got some more laps under his belt!
Josh took a well-earned night off after spending every single day at a racetrack for the last TWO WEEKS straight! 😅🏁 Safe to say he’s earned a little break!
We’re coming down to the wire on the summer racing season — ONE MORE Summer Series race next week! 🔥
Time to finish it out strong! 💙🏁

Round 10 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is officially in the books! 🏁
Josh came into the final round wanting to finish the Summer Shootout strong, and he did just that! He laid down some of his fastest practice laps of the series and backed it up with some really solid qualifying lap times!
The beginning of the race got a little rough for a couple competitors, and Josh was able to capitalize and work his way to the FRONT — leading a couple laps! 💙🏁
Unfortunately, that didn’t last as long as we would’ve liked. A spin sent him toward the back, but Josh put his head down and went right back to work, fighting his way forward and gaining as many positions as he could before the race eventually timed out.
Proud of the speed, the progress, and the fight he showed all night! Every lap at Charlotte has been another opportunity to learn and get better in his first bandit series!
A HUGE thank you to our AK Performance family for giving Josh a FAST hot rod and for all the support both on and off the track! We couldn’t ask for a better group of people in our corner! 💙
