It takes a village. 🧡

When we received a request for help with an emaciated black and white cat who was bleeding from his mouth and dragging his entire back end, we feared the worst.

When we arrived, we met two tenants who had been feeding him and doing everything they could to help. They could see that he had the will to live, but they knew he needed more.

After some trap training and building trust, we got him trapped and to the vet. The property owner generously sponsored his initial care, where we learned he had multiple injuries and nerve damage.

Even when he could barely stand on his back legs, it was easy to see what an incredibly sweet and loving cat he was.

The tenants brought him inside, named him Jinx, gave him his medication and watched him get stronger every day. They even sponsored his next round of care, including his neuter, vaccines and having a broken tooth removed.

And somewhere along the way, Jinx stopped being the injured stray they were helping and became part of their family. ❤️ They officially adopted him!

Not every rescue story has a happy ending, but this one did. It took a property owner who cared enough to ask for help, tenants willing to step up, veterinary care, and a whole lot of people working together.

It really does take a village.

The whole family has found their homes. 🧡🐾

Josie and all six of her kittens — Axe, Noble, Stache, Zoey, Stella and Bell — have officially found homes! 🥹

A lot of times, kittens are the easy part. They’re adorable, they’re tiny, and families fall in love with them quickly. But when we take in a mama and her babies, our responsibility doesn’t end when the kittens are safe.

We never forget about Mom.

Josie spent months raising and caring for her six babies. She kept them safe before we ever knew they existed, and once they came into our care, she continued doing her job until they were ready to be on their own.

She deserved her happy ending just as much as they did.

And now she has it. ❤️

One mama. Six kittens. Seven happy endings.

Kittens thrive with a buddy to wrestle, play, cuddle, and grow up with, so seeing these two stay together makes our hearts so happy.

Congratulations to Autumn, Glen, Noble, and Stache! We know these boys are going to have an amazing life filled with love.

It’s been a busy week!

Between all of the adoptions (which we’re certainly not complaining about ❤️), we realized we never shared our latest TNR clinic run.

This week, 22 cats made the trip to AlterClinic to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped. Even more incredible, 17 of those cats came from a single colony.

The best part? Every single cat on this trip was sponsored. 🧡

While the surgeries were covered, we’re always looking for help keeping our rescue van on the road. Every TNR trip means fuel, tolls, vehicle maintenance, and countless miles driven to help cats in our community.

🧡 Another amazing adoption story!

A few months ago, we received a call from an employee at Akzo Nobel. A mama cat and her six kittens had made their home in the drop ceiling above the break room, tucked away inside a hot, noisy boiler room.

With the help of the employees, we were able to safely rescue Mom—who they had lovingly named Josie—and all six of her spicy kittens.

For the next two months, Josie raised her babies in foster care, where many of you got to know Axe, Noble, Stache, Zoey, Stella, and Bell as they grew into healthy, playful kittens.

From the very beginning, the shop manager hoped Josie could return once her kittens were old enough. They loved having her around and wanted to give her a safe, happy life as their shop cat.

🧡 Yesterday, Josie went home.

We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect ending for this sweet girl. She now has an entire work family who already knows and loves her, and she’ll be showered with attention every single day.

Thank you to everyone at Akzo Nobel for caring enough to ask for help, trusting us with Josie and her babies, and giving this incredible mama the happy ending she deserves.

WE WANT TO HELP!

Just to clarify, we do not have a phone number and would never turn away someone asking for help. We know that animal rescue takes a village, and we are grateful to each and every person who decides to step up for animals in our community. It is true that we do not have a Vet on staff, but we do work with an amazing local vet and have regular appointments that we can squeeze injured cats into if needed. There is also an emergency vet 45 minutes away that we can go to 24/7. And at a minimum we can provide resource resources and supplies to help.

🧡 Meet Fabian!

If you’re looking for a cat who wants to be your sidekick, Fabian might be your perfect match.

Fabian is curious, affectionate, and loves being involved in whatever you’re doing. Whether he’s supervising you around the house or soaking up attention, he’s happiest when he’s with his people. And his favorite place to sit… A disposable (empty) litter box! 😹 (yes… we provide more comfortable places for him to sit if he chooses)

Before Fabian came into our care, a Good Samaritan witnessed him having a seizure and reached out to Pet Project for help. He was thoroughly examined by our veterinarian and underwent a series of tests. After a dose of medication and a complete evaluation, our veterinarian believes this was most likely a one-time occurrence, possibly due to someone poisoning him, and is not concerned about any long-term effects.

While Fabian loves people, he has made it clear that he’d prefer not to share the spotlight. He can be a little dominant with other cats, and his foster siblings aren’t big fans of his bossy personality. Because of that, we think Fabian would be happiest as the only cat in the home.

Yesterday, Creamsicle found his forever home! 🧡

Just one day after we shared his story, the perfect family came along.

They had already fallen in love with his goofy personality, and now he’ll have two feline siblings to share his new home with.

Sometimes, all it takes is one post, one share, and one family to change a life.

🧡 This is my favorite adoption story so far.

A few months ago, Alysha and her daughter, Ava, reached out after finding a very sick little kitten. They had already done everything they could to help her, but she was in such rough shape that she needed a little more intensive care.

When Avery came to Pet Project, I honestly didn’t know if she was going to make it.

She was severely dehydrated and emaciated. She was covered in fleas and urine, had parasites and worms, an eye infection, and a ruptured abscess on her paw. But somehow, this tiny little fighter never gave up.

Over the next three months, Avery slowly healed. She gained weight, regained her strength, and let her sweet personality shine.

Throughout her journey, I kept Alysha and Anna updated. They celebrated every milestone with us, and I secretly hoped they were falling in love with her just like I was.

They were.

This week, Avery went home with the very family that first refused to give up on her.

Sometimes, the best endings are the ones that come full circle.
