Effective January 1, 2027, MemorialCare Medical Group, MemorialCare Independent Physicians, and Edinger Medical Group will no longer participate as in-network providers in the Aetna Medicare Advantage HMO network. As a result, current Aetna Medicare Advantage HMO members with a primary care provider (P*P) from MemorialCare Medical Group, MemorialCare Independent Physicians, or Edinger Medical Group must choose a different health plan to keep their P*P after December 31, 2026.

As a result, current Blue Shield Medicare Advantage HMO members with a primary care provider (P*P) from MemorialCare Medical Group must choose a different health plan to keep their P*P after December 31, 2026.

Please note that this change applies only to members enrolled in an Aetna or Blue Shield Medicare Advantage HMO plan with a MemorialCare P*P. It does not affect Aetna or Blue Shield members with commercial insurance coverage or members enrolled in Medicare Advantage PPO or Medicare Supplement plans. Further, these terminations apply only to the medical groups. MemorialCare hospitals will remain contracted with Aetna and Blue Shield, and patients who remain enrolled in an affected Medicare Advantage HMO plan may continue to receive hospital services.

MemorialCare will begin notifying affected patients next week. Members who wish to continue receiving care from their MemorialCare physicians and specialists will need to enroll in a MemorialCare-accepted Medicare Advantage plan effective January 1, 2027.

Review your mail this September! If you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan, you should be receiving your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) letter by September 30th. This letter explains what’s changing with your plan starting January 1st; like your premium, deductible, drug coverage, which pharmacies are in network, and how benefit coverage is changing.

It’s easy to set this letter aside, but taking a few minutes to read through it can save you from surprises come the new year. And if something in your ANOC catches your attention, remember that Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15th through December 7th, giving you time to compare plans and make a change if you need to.
