End-of-Program Celebration -- just like that, another summer program comes to an end.

Before we officially wrap up, we’re making time for one more day together with our Bagets and Batibots — a chance to slow down, have some fun, and celebrate the community we’ve built throughout the year.

We’ll have food, t-shirt decorating, karaoke, and plenty of time to simply enjoy being together.

This year has been filled with so many moments we’ll carry with us — new friendships, new experiences, lots of laughter, and plenty of growth. Thank you to our students and families for being part of our community this year. We’re grateful for every conversation, connection, and memory along the way.

We’ll see you Thursday as we wrap up the summer program together. 💛

What kind of plants grow in your area kapamilya? Why do you think it's important to know?

On Friday, August 14, we will feature a local horticulturalist here at the Filipino Community of Seattle: Riz Reyes!

Riz first came to the United States when he was 7 years old, learning English through his love of PBS. "Sesame Street," "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood," and "Reading Rainbow" were all major influences on him and his work. He would eventually major in Environmental Horticulture and Urban Forestry (with a minor in Dance!), and now he writes books, helps cities make their green areas beautiful, and shows off what he grows at various events!

How would you all interpret this, kapamilya?

On Thursday, August 13, we will be heading back to Downtown and touring the Seattle Art Museum! Current exhibits include works by Francisco Goya, Diego Cibelli, and permanent exhibits like their hall of Impressionist works!

What did you all eat for breakfast kapamilya?

Well, we figured out what these owls were eating! With Lindsay Walker from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, we got to examine small animals that had naturally passed away, as well as owl pellets- the remains of what owls ate!

Bones, tufts of fur, all sorts of things don't get digested, yet they still return to the Earth to rejoin the cycle of life and death.
