Congratulations to Mr. Schreiber of Northwest Yeshiva High School - NYHS, one of just twelve educators from across the U.S. and Canada selected for the inaugural Zionist Education Initiative(ZEI) Fellowship.

This year-long fellowship, led by Nefesh B'Nefesh, in partnership with KadimaCoaching and Unpacked for Educators, is designed to strengthen Israel and Zionism education in Jewish day schools through immersive learning, coaching, and collaboration.

Samis spent the day at URJ Camp Kalsman — walking the grounds, seeing camp life in action, and sitting down with director, Rabbi Ilana Mills.

These kids never met Sam Israel a"h. But they know he played the mandolin, climbed Mt. Rainier twice, and loved being Jewish with his whole heart.

At SJCS's Zman Kehillah Showcase last week, students spent the year learning with KadimaCoaching on how a Jewish community is built — and Sam Israel became part of the lesson.
They drew his portrait. They made playing cards with his story. They ran a philanthropy activity for showcase visitors, with categories they designed: day schools, summer camp, teen trips to Israel, new families, and more.
Jewish day schools got the most tokens. 😊
Watching these kids explain Sam's legacy to their parents, community members, and teachers — with total confidence and so much heart — was one of those moments that reminds you exactly why this work matters.

Under the leadership of STEM and Engineering teacher Ariela DeFunis, NYHS students earned two Best Engineering awards for projects that combined creativity, technical skill, and real-world problem solving. From AI-powered Hebrew literacy tools to an interactive smart chessboard, these students demonstrated what is possible when innovation, teamwork, and perseverance come together.
We are proud to support a school that empowers students to think big, build boldly, and share their ideas on a national stage.

Northwest Yeshiva High School students win best engineering awards at national summit - Mercer Island Reporter It’s been an inspirational experience this year for STEM coach Ariela DeFunis, who watched some of her Northwest Yeshiva High School (NYHS) students win best engineering awards at the recent Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) Innovation Summit in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

We’re proud to share that SJCS 5th grader Abe was named one of just 6 winners worldwide —and the only winner from the United States—in the הספרייה הלאומיתNational Library of Israel’s Curate & Create Yom Ha’atzmaut Poster Competition.

The competition invited students to explore primary sources from the הספרייה הלאומיתNational Library of Israel and create original artwork reflecting their engagement with Israel’s story. This year, 466 students from 17 countries participated.

Abe’s achievement reflects the thoughtful Jewish and Israel education taking place at SJCS and the dedication of the educators who make that learning possible..
