We are excited to share that Field Arts & Events Hall has received a 2026 Citation Award from AIA Washington Council.

Located in Port Angeles, Washington, Field Arts & Events Hall is a new cultural hub for the Northern Olympic Peninsula. Designed as a multipurpose arts center and community gathering space, the 40,140-square-foot venue brings together performance, events, visual art, and year-round public engagement.

Its architecture reflects the surrounding landscape through an ascending glass form, regionally sourced timber, and expansive views of the city, waterfront, and Olympic Mountains. Developed through extensive community outreach, the project reflects the collective vision of Port Angeles and supports its future as a cultural destination.

Congratulations to the Port Angeles Waterfront Center, our collaborators, and the entire project team. For more information, visit the portal: https://aiawa.org/2026-design-award-winners/

We are honored to share that Morgridge Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has received a 2026 Fast Company Innovation by Design Award!

Designed by LMN Architects in collaboration with Kahler Slater, Morgridge Hall brings learning, student life, and research together through a daylight-filled atrium, collaborative hubs, indoor gardens, terraces, and flexible spaces that invite exchange across disciplines.

As Mark Tumiski, Principal at LMN, shared with Fast Company, “Once you start seeing chemistry students in your computer science building . . . it’s a good problem to have.”

Congratulations to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Kahler Slater, and the entire project team.

Wood is having a moment in the Pacific Northwest, and we are thrilled to see the Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal on the cover of The Seattle Times Pacific NW Magazine.

In “The Return of Wood,” design writer Lauren Gallow explores how mass timber is changing the way we think about architecture, from the character of our buildings to their relationship with forests, carbon, and human well-being.

The story includes several LMN Architects projects, including Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal, Founders Hall at the University of Washington, Lakeview Office Building in Kirkland, and Forest Trailhead at Woodland Park Zoo.

We are especially excited to share a small preview of the new Forest Trailhead, where a visible mass plywood structure and skylights create an experience inspired by light filtering through the forest canopy.

We’re happy to share that Leonardo da Costa and Pamela Trevithick will be speaking tomorrow Thursday, September 10, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Kansas City at the Convention Sports & Entertainment Facilities Conference: Building Austin’s Future: Delivering a Convention Center as an Economic and Civic Catalyst.

Join Leonardo, Pamela, and fellow leaders from the client, design, and construction teams as they explore how the redevelopment of the Austin Convention Center is reconnecting the urban fabric, expanding event capacity, and strengthening the city’s ability to attract major events and support sustained economic activity.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain practical insights into the delivery of large-scale convention center projects, including urban integration, outdoor event spaces, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and balancing civic ambition with operational needs.

Be sure to catch Leonardo and Pamela’s session as they discuss the project’s key redevelopment moves and its goal to become the world’s first International Living Future Institute Zero Carbon–certified convention center. They will offer a direct look at how a coordinated team and clear priorities are maintaining alignment from vision through implementation.

At the University of California, Irvine, the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building is where groundbreaking science happens. Designed for discovery, the building brings researchers together through three interconnected zones: a Personal Investigation Hub with offices, social spaces, and a rooftop terrace; a Laboratory Bar outfitted for safe, adaptable, high-performance research; and a Collaboration Seam that links them both, sparking the kind of cross-disciplinary exchange that drives real breakthroughs.

The facade balances transparency and privacy, pairing glass curtain walls with sculptural precast panels to flood workspaces with daylight while framing sweeping campus views. Outside, thoughtfully designed gathering spaces anchor the Wellness Walk and open onto the Medical Sciences Quad, creating a welcoming hub for the entire UC Irvine community.

Functional, flexible, and deeply connected to its campus, this building is more than a research facility. It is a catalyst for the future of healthcare.

Tomorrow, our Associate Partner Robert Smith joins an incredible group of collaborators for the “Founders Hall: Performance-Based Landscape Case Study” walking tour at the 2026 WASLA Field Day!

Founders Hall expands the UW Foster School of Business at the University of Washington while redefining the edge of Denny Yard, the oldest portion of campus. The landscape surrounding our cross-laminated timber building celebrates the site’s ecological heritage through native meadow plantings, restored topography, and stormwater systems that support long-term stewardship. This guided tour explores how a collaborative, performance-based design process can create resilient, site-specific campus landscapes that enhance biodiversity and build a distinct “only at UW” identity.

We are proud to be part of a project that is setting a new standard for campus landscape design.
