Since 1983, โ NW New Works has been a vibrant celebration of artists from all performance disciplines, showcasing the dynamic arts community of the Pacific Northwest.
This year, featured alongside six other contemporary artists, is premiering their new work, ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ง๐ข๐ค๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ, a high-velocity kinesthetic rollercoaster for seven dancers, two lights, and a DJ. It is a meditation on the essential relationship between risk-taking and community care. In darkness, held close through directed lighting and tension between what is seen and unseen, movement slices and slips through restricted space, underpinned by an original soundscore.

โDuring this class, participants will learn partnering and weight-sharing ideas that are heavily influenced by wrestling techniques. Participants will be expected to take on and give weight to various other participants in the class, as well as be able to communicate physical needs in order to help cultivate a safer environment for themselves and others. All movements will be slowly scaled up from their simplest version throughout the class, ensuring that regardless of level and capability, each participant will have something to gain and be able to achieve.โ
