September was absolutely BANANAS 🍌

From wondering whether school would actually start to family visits, four-legged house guests to the Jewish High Holidays, and flaming pastas to Halloween prep, it was a month FULL of surprises, challenges, and new beginnings.

▶️ A woman is suing Cornell University after the local District Attorney declined to prosecute 7 Cornell fraternity members who drugged and rap3d her in 2024

and

▶️ New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has enacted a one-year moratorium on all generative AI in NYC public schools for students through 8th grade, as well as AI literacy classes for high schoolers.

What do these stories have in common?

Both of these people — a district attorney and a mayor — are elected officials.

There is a massive federal election coming up in the US on Tuesday, November 3. This isn’t just about our congressional representatives (though it definitely IS about them, too), but also your local politicians who make decisions like whether women deserve bodily autonomy and whether children’s education should be outsourced to OpenAI’s chatbots.

Everything is connected. Everything matters. Get out there and vote with your conscience, your ethics, and your determination to make this world a better place 🧡

The absolute PINNACLE of my month was my trip with the kids to Chicago / Springfield for a Women's Pro Baseball League game. I haven’t stopped talking about it (sorry, not sorry!) to anyone who will listen, and I feel so grateful that I was able to give my kids that experience and get to live a little bit of history.

… But other stuff happened last month too, I guess 😂
