Cascadia Pigeon Rescue

Squeakers! When they're babies, pigeons have squeaky immature voices, just like people. They even start to get that voice crack as they age into adulthood.

These are just some of the babies we've rescued over the past year. We can get babies year round sometimes, as pigeons are unfortunately quite prolific and may have young into early winter.

With your support, we can continue to rescue these vulnerable little creatures and give them a chance to thrive.

Behold! Babies! These squishy little nuggets were rescued after their parents built their nest on a shipping container. A sharp-eyed port of Seattle employee spotted their peril after another container had been stacked on theirs. They are now in the care of Cascadia volunteers, who will be transporting them to safety at West Sound Wildlife Center, our number one recommendation for baby pigeons.

Merry little Mumble! This adorable baby has had quite a rough start to life, contending with splay leg and hunger. Alerted by a member of the public, Cascadia swooped in to save him. Mumble has had corrective surgery, but you'd never know it with how eager he is to get those feet tapping! He's very disgruntled to be stuck healing in a sling, but we have full confidence that Mumble will recover. For now he's safe in the care.ofnhisnfoster, who feeds him three times a day, puts on SpongeBob for him to watch, and makes sure he gets his medications to keep him comfy.

This incredibly lucky little guy was found floating in the Sound by a member of Cascadia's volunteer network. Exhausted and waterlogged, he was fished out of the water and deposited safely in their kayak with them. Now in the capable and loving hands of one of our volunteers, yes been warmed, fed, and given a plush pigeon toy for comfort.

Currently we are at capacity with medical rescues. Therefore this little fella will go to a rehab center to grow up.

Beautiful Remolo loves to watch the world go by from the comfort of a very fancy cat tree. Remolo is one of our adoptable birds. His foster Kal notes he is not a fan of people, but gets along very well with his housemates Talvi and Doodle. He'd do best in a home with other friendly, gentle birds, with an adopter who understands his wariness of people.

Remolo suffered head trauma and still has some neurologic deficits (his little penguin run being a side effect) but he has made a fantastic recovery.

Say hello to steely Curlicue Sue! Here at Cascadia, we believe pigeons have an impeccable sense for seeking out human helpers, and beautiful Curlicue Sue was no exception.

As a fancy frillback pigeon, she has no business on the streets. At least she seemed to know it: she took up residence in the backyard of a family in South Seattle, and there she found some lovely hosts. For several days they fed and watered Curlicue. With some help from a Cascadia volunteer, they set up a carrier to hopefully entrap Curlicue. Their efforts paid off: they were actually able to net Curlicue and secure her.

Curlicue appears to be in good health, though she is a little underweight. We'll get her back to a healthy size. She is very used to people and appears to be fairly well socialized. Wish her well
