It's always a pleasure to chat with 51st. Whether you're a first time autumn gardener, or know the conditions of your space pretty well, read more about some of our suggestions this season.
What foods and flowers to plant for fall in D.C. Autumn is actually the best time of year to put in perennials (and there's still time for many veggies, too).

Get in on the fall planting action and swing by the nursery! Now is the perfect time to invest in late season color with our diverse array of asters and goldenrods. Plus, get a head start on next year’s flowers and foliage with our full selection of native perennials, shrubs, and trees just waiting to set down roots before putting on a show.
It’s finally time for one of our fave late season bloomers to get their shine! Instead of reaching for the short-lived garden mums this fall, support the pollinators and add some color with Asters.
We offer a variety of species at our nursery that pair well with Solidago species and ornamental grasses like Little Bluestem. Let us help you pick out some fall color during open hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
