Dual Boards are headed to Houston. 🌊

This week, Rip Current Sports will be at All things Aquatics - supporting pools and the staff/people who love them! gathering at the University of Houston — bringing Dual Boards into conversations with Aquatics Directors, Coaches, Instructors and program leaders from around the industry.

Founder Jose-Luis Gallagher will be one of the industry voices participating Saturday, but we’re especially interested in what happens after the conversation starts.

Because one of our favorite questions to ask when someone experiences Dual Boards is:

“What possibilities do you see?”

Different coaches see different applications.
Different programs have different needs.
Different swimmers create different questions.

That’s part of why we built two independent boards in the first place.

One board puts the hands together. Two independent boards let the hands separate. What becomes possible when they do?

If you work in aquatics and you’ll be in Houston, come find Jose and get Dual Boards on your hands.

Listen to what Robert Strauss OLY sees. 👀

This is one of my favorite moments from working with Coach Robert Strauss in Miami.

I’m in the water experimenting with the movement. Robert is watching from the deck.

And in real time, he’s describing what he sees happening through the body.

That’s what makes conversations between coaches so valuable.

The coach on deck can see things the swimmer in the water can’t feel — and the swimmer can feel things the coach can’t see.

Good coaching connects the two.

Listen to Robert as I go down and back.

What do you notice?

Some of the best work happens when nobody is watching.

One swimmer. One lane. One more opportunity to learn what the water is telling you.

That’s what I love about swimming — there is always something to learn, whether you’re just getting started or have been doing it for years.

Learn. Improve. Compete. Enjoy. 🌊

What happens when a coach wants to help a swimmer better understand the catch? 👀

In Miami, Robert Strauss and I started experimenting with a question he had about helping his 15-year-old granddaughter better understand what she’s doing at the beginning of the catch.

We introduced a rotational bow-and-arrow drill — incorporating breath and an inclining fingertip — not as the finished answer, but as a way to begin helping both coach and swimmer feel and visualize what the body is actually doing.

That’s the part of coaching I love.

Before we can improve a movement, sometimes we first have to create a way to see it, feel it and understand it.

Robert started noticing things.

So we kept the camera rolling.

That’s a wrap! 🎬🌊

This week I sat down with Inside Success TV in Miami to tell a story decades in the making.

Swimming. Family. Adversity. Coaching. Entrepreneurship. And eventually an idea that became Rip Current Sports and Dual Boards.

But the part that matters most to me isn’t being on television.

It’s the mission:

Create swimmers. Create faster swimmers.

From someone learning to find balance in the water to competitive swimmers searching for another fraction of a second, Dual Boards were created to help swimmers feel and improve their body position in the water.

From the first float to the fastest swim.

This is only the beginning. More to come. 🌊

Dual Boards are now patented in Mexico. 🇲🇽

Mexican Patent No. 436981 has officially been granted.

From an idea in the water, to building the first Boards, to swimmers and coaches across the country—and now patent protection in both the United States and Mexico.

We’re proud of how far this idea has traveled.

And we’re just getting started.

Patent Protected. Performance Driven.

Some improvements in swimming aren’t explained...

They’re experienced.

One of my favorite parts of coaching is watching the moment when a swimmer begins to feel better body position instead of simply hearing about it.

Every time I get back in the water, I’m reminded that I’m still learning too.

What do you notice first?

Some skills in swimming can’t be understood from the deck.
They have to be felt.

That’s one reason I still spend time experimenting in the water—not just coaching from the side.

What’s one drill that completely changed the way you swim?
