Awaken Spokane

We all have another side of the road.

The person we avoid.
The conversation we keep putting off.
The situation where distance just feels easier.

But love moves toward people.

This week on Awaken at Home, we’re talking about what it actually looks like to love the people God has placed around us—not somewhere else, but right here.

What happens when God puts someone in front of you who isn’t “your people”?

Someone you don’t understand. Someone you disagree with. Someone whose story is completely different from yours.

Maybe the first step isn’t assuming we know who they are.

Maybe it’s getting close enough to actually learn their story.

You may be waiting for the next opportunity, the next season, or the next place to step into what God has for you.

But what if faithfulness starts right where you are?

Don’t let what’s missing convince you that you’re in the wrong place. Don’t let what’s next become an excuse for what God is asking of you now.

You are here. Maybe there’s a reason.

Week 1 of YOU ARE HERE: Living on Mission Where God Has Placed You is available now on the Awaken at Home Podcast. 🎧

SERVICE UPDATE

As many of you know, our community continues to be impacted by the Old Trails Road and Fairview fires. While we are not in the direct path of the fires, many families have been displaced, thousands are without power, and several of our own church families and volunteers have been affected by the ongoing conditions.

Because of this, we have made the decision to cancel our Sunday gathering tomorrow, August 2.

More than anything, we want to encourage our church family to be praying for our community. Pray for those who have been displaced, those who have lost homes, our firefighters, law enforcement, and every emergency responder serving around the clock. Pray for protection, wisdom, strength, and that these fires would be brought under control.

If you know someone who has been affected, check in on them. Look for opportunities to love your neighbors and be the hands and feet of Jesus. If you need prayer please feel free to reach out by DM and or email [email protected]

We love you, church family. Stay safe.

This Sunday we have a special guest joining us.

Joe Wittwer, founding pastor of Life Center, is coming to the Yard to bring the final message of our series on the Holy Spirit.

Come as you are and bring a guest. 10 AM · Shaw Middle School · Hillyard

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate 250 years of our nation, we’re thankful for the freedoms we enjoy and for the hope we have in Christ.

Just a reminder that there will be no service tomorrow. We pray you have a safe and refreshing weekend with family and friends.

What are you most thankful for this Fourth of July? We’d love to hear in the comments. 🇺🇸
