🇺🇸⚓ Eli Abraham Joins the U.S. Coast Guard — A Rare Achievement for the Marshallese Community 🇲🇭⚓

We proudly celebrate Eli Abraham, who has just graduated from U.S. Coast Guard Boot Camp — becoming one of fewer than 10 Marshallese to serve in the Coast Guard.

His graduation marks not only a personal milestone but also a moment of significance for the broader Marshallese community. Under the Compact of Free Association (COFA), Marshallese citizens can live and work in the United States, serve in the U.S. military, and apply for expedited citizenship through their service.

While many Marshallese have served honorably in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, the U.S. Coast Guard — with its missions in maritime security, search and rescue, and disaster response — remains one of the least represented branches.

Eli’s achievement reflects a path forward — one of service, opportunity, and representation. His journey reminds us that the bond between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the United States is not just diplomatic, but personal — built by the choices and sacrifices of individuals like him.

Komol tata, Eli. We are proud of you!
