We had our first ESP Emotional Support Pythons Fairground experience and to say it was a success was an understatement.. in more than one way. As an administrator, naturally and admittedly, I approached the project with goals and checkpoints that I’m happy to say were met. We had 276 customers which is amazing and honestly hard to still comprehend. But I walked away from this experience truly being blessed by witnessing 3 more important things:

1. A mom and her 10 year old daughter came to the fair with the purpose to see pythons. After their 5th round of snake wrangling we insisted they stay and join the team! We found out we are neighbors and, by the end of the day, we got ourselves a wonderful young volunteer who Ivy already calls friend. The revenue of new friendships continues to be the greatest achievement through this entire program.

2. A group of teenagers came to enjoy the reptile petting zoo at the beginning of the day! They were the stereotypical, let’s go to the fair young crowd filled with exuberance and being way too cool! Except one girl. She ditched the “cool” kids and just… stayed. She jumped in and helped coordinate the passing of pythons from one customer to another. She acted as if she had volunteered for years and after today I hope she does! It’s great to see young persons choose to serve without seizing.. or even asking!

3. My daughter is awesome! She used this silly snake experience to witness the awesome love of Jesus to every kid that walked under our tent. She invited them to church and asked if they want to be friends. Watching her grow into a young lady who loves God and people is a sight to behold and was truly the most beautiful element to our day.

So with that, do all things with excellence and praise God along the way. It’s amazing to see what unfolds.
