My number 1 rule when off leash is leave dogs and people alone. Don’t approach without permission.
Oak needed some practice so we went to a field with lots of dogs off leash. He got in trouble 2 times. Got e-collar tapped twice.
He understood and fixed himself. No trauma. No shutting down. No destroyed relationship. Just a dog who can happily and safely be off leash in public.
I heard that sound, glanced up, and saw both dogs standing excitedly over something. I called them immediately and they came straight back. Had we not been so fast, they’d have been hurt.

I thought we were all alone on our evening run, and surprise - cows! I’m big on being responsible and respectful with off-leash stuff, so my dogs will always have e-collars on… just in case. You never know what you’ll run into, and I like to be prepared.

Reactivity is fixable. You don’t have to just live with it.
Birdie will be just fine now that she’s being treated like a normal dog and not like she’s weak and incapable.
