Seeing people post "I love being creative" and following it with an obvious AI image (I have actually seen someone who said "creative with AI") makes me want to shout at them, "You are not being creative!" You are typing a prompt in and the computer is doing the work. I am creative. I put images together using stock photos (and I never use AI generated images, I exclude AI when I look for images) I create things from the bottom up. It can take hours, even days to create a cohesive image. It is hard work. Things like Chatgpt kill creativity, kill independent thought, and kill critical thinking. Not to mention the impact on the environment. All so you can pretend you're an artist or a writer. Stop pretending to create things when using AI, you are doing zero work. Below are a couple examples of covers I've created using stock images. On the left is the original image, the right is the final result of hours of work, a heck of a lot of images pieced together, adjustments to coloring and exposure, and so on. Then there's the time to choose the appropriate font. AI isn't work, what artists, graphic designers, and writers do is work.

I haven't posted much in the last couple of months. I've been busy at my regular job. Transferred to a different department and working more hours since there is currently no manager in that department. I haven't had time to do any leisurely design work. It's mostly been the work I've done for Creative James Media

Thanks to my regulars that have stuck around during my "down time" I am still doing design and will always make time for clients, but anything extra will have to wait for a bit.

Those who know me and my work know that I am heavily anti AI. I don't use AI generated images (I check the box to exclude AI images on all of the stock sites I use) nor do I create full covers using any AI generation.

All of my covers are created using non AI stock images. I put my covers together piece by piece. There are times it can take me a week or more to create a cover. To have someone accuse me of creating an AI cover sucks. I'm proud of my work and the time and energy I put into creating beautiful covers for authors. The AI witch hunts are becoming ridiculous. AI is taught how to create using the work of real people, it's fed it like hungry hungry hippos gobbling marbles. It makes sense that our work might appear as if it was created by AI because that's the knowledge it uses to make things. The witch hunts need to stop, it hurts creatives.

Have you read my debut book yet? Folks have been loving Chief Mason and learning about the small town of Elroy. I based the town off of where I spent most of my time growing up.
