Tom has been making music since he was 16 and has spent decades performing, songwriting, leading worship, and sharing music with others. From his work with Under Grace to his solo recordings and years of worship ministry, there was a lot of ground to cover — and plenty of stories along the way.

We also talked about how his music has evolved over the years, the wide range of artists and genres that influence him, what he’s learned from decades of performing, and what this next chapter of his musical journey may look like.

Last night, we turned up the volume on the balcony with Nightdowner for an evening of melodic punk rock, great music, and some seriously thoughtful conversation.

Formed in Springfield in 2018, Nightdowner brought their unique blend of punk influences, Ozarks perspective, and honest songwriting to the session. We talked about growing older, living in a changing city, the frustrations of everyday life, staying creative, and why it's never too late to keep pushing forward.

And, of course, they brought the music! 🔥🎶

Their 2025 album I Don't Think It's Too Late and their new Vaporize EP both provided plenty of inspiration for a conversation that went well beyond the music.

What a milestone! Last night we celebrated 40 episodes of Balcony Sessions with the one and only Ron Preston. 🎉🎸

Ron brought decades of stories, music, and experiences from an incredible career that has taken him from Off-Broadway and the early punk rock scene in New York, to film and television, blues and rock bands, Branson stages, and right here to the Springfield music and film community.

It was an evening filled with great music, fascinating stories, laughter, and the kind of conversation that makes these intimate sessions so special.
