HavaHeart Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue based in Springfield, MO. In fact, HHR has rescued and rehabilitated over 1,000 dogs in its short tenure.
Established in September 2016, HavaHeart Rescue (HHR) of Springfield, MO rescues and rehabilitates abandoned and abused dogs. They have done this based on the belief that every dog deserves the chance to live a happy and healthy life as a beloved family member. HavaHeart Rescue prides themselves on saving the underdogs - taking on the most broken dogs and transforming them into happy, healthy companions. Located in the "puppy mill capitol of the world," approximately 90% of the dogs rescued by HHR come from a background of commercial breeding, these dogs have unique needs that are not seen in other areas of rescue. HHR's intakes are almost always unsocialized and shut down, they have never felt a loving touch. Puppy mill dogs also bring with them a myriad of expensive medical issues due to years of neglect and over-breeding as well as poor breeding practices which lead to puppies with birth defects. These dogs are in desperate need of a safe and loving refuge and are placed in loving foster families that diligently advocate for their foster pup in order to rehabilitate and prepare them for family life. ADOPTER NEEDED Wheezie needs a minute to get comfortable. Then she has a few things to say. ❤️
When this little Poodle gets excited, out come some wonderfully weird noises. We don’t have a translation yet, but she seems pretty committed to getting her point across.
Wheezie is a 7-year-old, 10-pound Miniature Poodle who’s good with other dogs. She’s timid when meeting people, but once she decides you’re okay, she comes around pretty quickly.
Her best fit is someone who’ll give her a little time to feel safe—and appreciate the sound effects once she does. Underneath those first-meeting nerves is a sweet girl worth getting to know. 🐾

💔 Meet Scottie.
This sweet terrier pup is now safe at our intake building, but he still needs our help.
Scottie came to us with a femoral head fracture that is causing him a lot of pain. He will be having an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) at Fair Grove. His surgery and care are estimated to cost between $1,000 and $1,200, followed by crate rest and recovery.
At just five months old, this little guy should be running, playing, and figuring out the world around him. Instead, he’s facing surgery and a long recovery.
He’s here. He’s safe. And now we need to get him the care he deserves. ❤️

🔥 Fire Dog Foster Update: Flint 🔥
“Hi, it’s me, Flint! I’m checking in after a pretty crazy couple of weeks, but I think all of that is finally becoming a distant memory. ❤️
I’ve met my new BIG foster brothers, including HHR alum Jax, who knows a thing or two about rescue and finding the perfect home after a not-so-great start.
I’m still getting settled, but after all the traveling today, I think I’ve earned a nap. This fuzzy blanket from the rescue plus my foster dad’s lap is just way too cozy! 🐾💤”
We couldn’t be happier to see him getting comfortable and surrounded by love.

Our shelter got some serious TLC thanks to this incredible group of volunteers! 💙
From bagging dog food and power washing kennels to touching up paint, prepping foster kits, and tackling so many other projects, they rolled up their sleeves and got to work—and the impact will be felt by our animals and foster families every day.

🔥 Fire Dog Foster Update: Hagen 🔥
Hagen is doing very well, and we are so happy to hear it! ❤️
His foster mom says he is definitely learning his routine. He’s going on two walks a day and is becoming a very good walker, even if his leash skills still need a little work. 😂
He’s learning, settling in, and getting more comfortable with each day. We couldn’t ask for a better update for this boy. 🐾
We are so proud of Hagen and can’t wait to see how he continues to grow and settle into his new routine.
