Amerikkan Justice in Black and White

Amber Guyger, a Dallas police officer, murdered Botham Jean, a 26-year-old unarmed accountant after walking into his apartment, thinking it was hers. She was convicted and sentenced to TEN YEARS.

Jason Van D**e, a Chicago police officer, murdered Laquan McDonald by shooting him 16 times in the back as he walked away. He was convicted and sentenced to SIX YEARS AND NINE MONTHS. He served three years and was released. 

Shaun Lucas, a Wolfe City, TX police officer, was charged with murdering Jonathan Price, who was unarmed. He shot him four times outside a convenience store. HE WAS ACQUITTED BY AN ALL WHITE JURY.

Karmelo Anthony killed Austin Metcalf in self-defense after fearing for his safety in a chaotic, escalating confrontation. He was convicted and sentenced to THIRTY-FIVE YEARS.

In Texas, Karmelo Anthony was convicted after acting in self-defense during a confrontation that ended in the death of a white teenager. The jury rejected his self-defense claim. In South Carolina, Rick Chow was acquitted after chasing and shooting 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton in the back, claiming he was defending his son. The jury accepted that defense

The legal facts of these cases are different. The circumstances are different. But the outcome leaves us asking the same question: Why does self-defense seem easier to recognize when the person pulling the trigger isn’t Black?

A Black teenager fearing for his life is seen as a criminal. A grown man who chases a Black child and shoots him in the back is seen as a reasonable citizen.

For generations, Black people have watched courts, juries, media outlets, and politicians extend the benefit of the doubt to others while denying it to us. We have watched Black children be treated as threats and Black victims be placed on trial after their deaths. Black fear is discounted, Black humanity is questioned, and Black lives are afforded less grace by a system that promises equal justice under the law.

Justice cannot be color-coded. Self-defense cannot depend on the race of the person making the claim. And equal protection under the law cannot remain a slogan that Black people in American never fully experience.

MAGA cult member Lee Toliver (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61582787943217) jumped in my comments to say that Black people behave like monkeys.

Really? 

In Latin and Italian, “maga” means sorceress or witch. In Nigerian Pidgin, “maga” is a gullible fool who gets conned.

Either way, MAGA fits.

It’s a demonic movement centered around a racist, ra**st, pe*****le, pathological liar, convicted felon, sociopath, and demagogue. It’s built on grievance, fear, lies, conspiracy theories, racial resentment, and political idolatry. It’s led by cynical opportunists who know better and followed by millions who keep falling for the same scams, the same false promises, and the same manufactured outrage.

It’s a movement of manipulators and the manipulated, grifters and the grifted.

MAGA isn’t a political philosophy. It’s a satanic cult sustained by deception and fueled by ignorance.

Notice how nobody mentioned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. until I challenged the absurd claim that Charlie Kirk was somehow doing “the work of Jesus.”

That’s when the racist revisionism started.

Charlie Kirk built a career trafficking in anti-Black stereotypes, white grievance politics, attacks on diversity, and rhetoric designed to make white people comfortable blaming Black people for America’s problems. Dr. King spent his life confronting racism, segregation, economic injustice, and the very systems that Kirk spent years excusing or inflaming. The two men are not remotely comparable.

One preached that America must confront its racism. The other profited from telling people racism is largely imaginary unless white people claim to be its victims.

And because that comparison collapses under the weight of facts, King’s critics resort to lies.

They lie about his assassination. They lie about his ministry. They lie about his theology. They lie about his character.

Dr. King was assassinated in broad daylight on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel, surrounded by friends and colleagues. That is not a matter of opinion; it is historical fact. Yet sixty years later, racists still recycle myths and conspiracy theories because they cannot defeat his legacy honestly.

The theological accusations are just as dishonest. Dr. King was a Christian minister who preached Jesus Christ, pastored a church, led a movement grounded in faith, and repeatedly testified to the lordship of Christ. You don’t have to agree with every aspect of his theology to recognize that inventing lies about him decades after his death is nothing more than character assassination.

What fascinates me is the pattern. White conservatives routinely canonize white men while demonizing Black men. They will bend over backward to defend the flaws, failures, and sins of white political figures, but reserve their harshest condemnation for Black leaders who challenged racism, segregation, and white supremacy.

Dr. King’s legacy survived Bull Connor, J. Edgar Hoover, segregationists, and the Klan. It will survive anonymous internet racists and revisionist historians too. Charlie Kirk spent his career making white conservatives feel comfortable. Dr. King sacrificed his life making America uncomfortable with its racism.

History will always remember which one expanded justice and which one benefited from the backlash against it. And no amount of racist revisionism will change that.

Dr. King is remembered around the world as a freedom fighter. Bigots like Charlie Kirk, who hated him and disparaged his name will be remembered for their racism. History has already rendered its verdict.
