We are thrilled to announce that the Springfield Housing Authority has been awarded $1.2 million through the Community Project Funding (CPF) program, secured through the office of Congresswoman Becca Balint!
This transformational investment will fund the infrastructure needed to move forward with our new workforce housing development off Southridge Street—creating opportunities for the teachers, school staff, and other essential members of our community who keep Springfield strong.
This funding represents an important step toward addressing our region's housing shortage and investing in Springfield's future. By building the infrastructure today, we are laying the foundation for homes that will help attract and retain the workforce our community depends on.
We are incredibly grateful to Congresswoman Becca Balint and her team for recognizing the importance of expanding housing opportunities in rural Vermont and for their partnership in making this project possible.
Together, we're building more than housing—we're building a stronger Springfield.

7/2/26 at 12:30pm: All systems restored.
7/2/26 at 9:45am: Phone services have been restored. Our team is still seeing TV issues for subscribers in: Wallingford, Mount Holly, Tinmouth, Wells, Danby, Pawlet, Middletown Springs, Ira and West Rutland.
7/2/26 at 8:48am: This morning's service outage was caused by structural damage to an important routing cable, and our team is actively working on a solution. Issues appear to be centralized in the Wallingford, specifically on Sugar Hill and Butterworth Rd, with pockets of other subscribers throughout our service territory also affected due to this route.
7/2/26 at 8:00am: VTel is aware of an issue with VTel subscribers not being able to receive or make phone calls. We also are receiving reports that some subscribers are not able to access TV services at this time. Our team is actively working on a repair. At this time, an estimated restoration window is not available; however, we will update here as soon as we have more information.
