Melody was discarded by a dairy in 2013 after catching pneumonia as a calf. Deeply devoted to her herd-mates, Melody helps to co-create the peaceful ethos of the sanctuary. Shout-out to all of the donors who have helped to support her and her friends over the years!

Five years ago this week, a group of Vermont vegans rescued a calf from being put on "the meat truck" by a dairy farmer. He was so small that he fit in the backseat of a Subaru! Mokka came to VINE, where elder cows helped to care for him. Mokka grew and grew and grew. Today he is a proud member of the "hardy herd" in our forested back pastures. Happy Gotcha Day, Mokka! And THANKS AGAIN to all the Vegan Vermont members who made his life here possible!
