As if the first 100-win team in Milwaukee Brewers history needed any help getting to 101 wins, the Cardinals were there for them in the eighth inning Friday.
For the second time in as many days, a throwing error on the infield led directly to a Cardinals loss, but unlike in the series finale at Pittsburgh, the ragged play did not stop with one error. Nor did it start with the error.

Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, a Republican, called Friday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Missouri's congressional maps "a disappointing blow to representative democracy" but said he appreciated getting "the final clarity" on which boundary lines will be used in the November election.
He added that "I hope Missourians know I left nothing on the field" in the legal battle on the issue "and I never will."
Democratic U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City, who was targeted for defeat with the map redrawn by the GOP-run Legislature last year, said state officials for more than a year had spent precious time, energy and resources to silence Missouri voters "and steal a Congressional seat."
"Tonight, after more than 305,000 Missourians demanded a say, the Supreme Court has put this shameful and unlawful scheme to rest," Cleaver said on social media. "Power to the people."

A two-month theft investigation in north St. Louis focused on a specific pattern: older, disabled vehicles disappearing from the street and leaving behind scrape marks consistent with towing.

A yearlong fight over Missouriβs mid-decade congressional redistricting appears to have reached its endpoint weeks before the November election.
The U.S. Supreme Court blocked another federal order requiring the 2025 map and told lower federal courts not to interfere with use of the 2022 districts. Missouri will use that older map while voters separately decide the fate of the 2025 version.

A juvenile officer on Friday recommended that a 14-year-old accused in a fatal shooting at a Ferguson track meet be tried as an adult. The boy was 13 when the shooting happened.
LaJuan Swopes, 13, was killed, and a 14-year-old was wounded in the shooting, which happened March 31 in a parking lot of STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley High School.
The defense said the allegations remain unproven and called adult prosecution at that age extraordinarily rare. A judge has not yet ruled.

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway on Friday launched an investigation of ActBlue, a Democrat fundraising platform that takes in millions of dollars and helps bankroll tens of thousands of campaigns across the country.
Hanaway said the fundraising platform is suspected of violating several state consumer-protection laws, including fraud, unfair practices, and misrepresentation of foreign contributions.
The organization earlier this month countered similar allegations of fraud with a report on its website, saying the probes launched by Republican attorneys general are an attempt to "undermine the grassroots infrastructure that fuels the Democratic Partyβs campaigns and mission-aligned causes."
