What happens when we allow Jesus to enter into our souls in prayer? As we near the feast of the Assumption, let us remember Mary allowing the power of Jesus to enter into her. Her assumption is a pledge of what Jesus wants to do with each of us at the end of time.

If we let the power of Jesus enter us, then we'll experience His love, His joy, His peace.

If you only had 30 seconds to spread the good news of the Gospel, what would you say?

Many of the Gospel passages this month are quite brief, but in their brevity lies truth, as well as an invitation to a deeper understanding. From the Parable of the Sower to the Parable of the Mustard Seed, these moments only last as long a television commercial.

As we study the readings in these coming weeks, let us challenge ourselves to search for answers from the depths of our hearts, no matter how short or how long.

Jesus was a master of this approach to the world's greatest questions. Let us live like Him, learn from Him, and spread His word in our everyday lives.

Good morning! Please join me on Saturday, July 18, at the Cathedral Basilica where we will commemorate 200 years of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This Holy Mass of Celebration will be a wonderful opportunity to pray, worship, and reflect on our deep history of serving the Lord with gladness.

Please share the good news with friends and family as we join in unity and gratitude for 200 years of faith and service!

Hatred and violence against any faith tradition is a threat to all faith traditions.

Our sense of time differs in the summer – longer days, fatigue from heat, children home from school. As this season continues, let us reflect on this change in time by celebrating our temporal relationship to the Eucharist.

All time is a gift from God. The past – the one sacrifice of Christ on the cross – is made present in the Eucharist. On the other hand, our hope for Eternal Life draws the future into the present. God is trying to draw us into His eternity, where there is no past or future but only an eternal present.

I invite everyone to reflect on how time – past, present, and future – belongs to God.

This week, we have the opportunity to celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary. Throughout our storied history, we have consistently achieved the unprecedented, from sustaining a democratic republic to putting man on the moon.

We also have the opportunity to reflect upon our nation's shortcomings. Reflecting on our history allows us to expand our imagination when looking ahead.

Amidst our celebrations, I invite everyone to simultaneously practice repentance, while asking ourselves what we can do to follow in Christ's example of sacrifice. How might we turn wrong into right through our actions? How can we lead with Christ's love? How can we make our own lives a contribution to a better future?

What an honor it is to partner with our friends in Diocese of Peoria to celebrate .

Tickets for the beatification Mass of Fulton Sheen will be available beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23.

Archbishop Sheen will be beatified on Sept. 24 at The Dome at America’s Center in Downtown St. Louis.

Tickets for the beatification Mass and other events will be available through the Archbishop Fulton Sheen Foundation website at celebratesheen.com.

“We encourage you to register as early as possible. While we have worked diligently to accommodate the many pilgrims expected to travel from across the United States and around the world, demand is anticipated to be significant for several events,” Peoria Bishop Louis Tylka said in a June 21 letter.

In addition to the beatification Mass, the Diocese of Peoria is inviting pilgrims to participate in prayerful events in the surrounding days.
