Thanks for attending my Ted Talk.

You’re stressing about follower counts while some of us literally don’t care about that number at all.

Once I realized that the name of the game was building a brand that people want to come back to, that became my sole focus.

Step 1: Acquire the customer.
Step 2: Retain the customer

Let’s start here. — I’ve been in sales for 19 years. I’ve had an e-commerce business for the last 7 years. It took me just under 4 years to hit $1 million in sales. I’ve been helping women in e-commerce.

Most of my clients have been black women and I LOVE THAT.

But, it pains me to watch my sisters not take the business serious.

It pains me seeing all these people who do not look like us sell the same things as us and make 10 times as much money.

It is not because they have more money. Stop trying to minimize this to funding. I’ve never had funding.

It’s not because they have more followers, cause truth be told, we often have more. We’re often liked, admired, but not as supported. And it’s because most aren’t running the business like a business.

I don’t say this to criticize. I’m saying this to be honest with you in hopes that you can be honest with yourself.

If you know you haven’t been treating your business like a business, admit it to yourself and then do something about it.
