We have big news! šŸš€

Today, GeoSTL introduced the Spirit of St. Louis AI Innovation Center—a flagship initiative using AI, advanced computing, and bold collaboration to solve real-world problems for the public good.

Founding collaborators include AWS, Google, NVIDIA, Overture Maps Foundation, WEKA, and World Wide Technology, with GeoSTL serving as administrator. The Lindbergh Foundation has joined as a founding member of the Center’s 1927 Committee.

Innovation Competitions will be framed in collaboration with Taylor Geospatial, 39 North AgTech Innovation District, AMICSTL, BioSTL, TechSTL, The Yield Lab Institute, and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.

Twenty percent of the Center’s resources and capacity will be dedicated exclusively to civic projects benefiting the greater St. Louis region.

This is what AI for Good looks like—and it starts in St. Louis.

šŸ“ There's a lot happening across St. Louis' geospatial ecosystem—and now there's one place to find it all.
We're excited to launch the new GeoSTL Community Calendar, your hub for conferences, networking events, workshops, webinars, educational programs, and more happening across the region.

Even better? It's community-powered.

If your organization is hosting an event that's relevant to the geospatial ecosystem, we'd love to help spread the word. Visit the calendar and click Submit an Event to share it with the community.

At GeoSTL, we believe some of the best ideas begin with listening.

Every conversation we have with partners, stakeholders, members, and community leaders helps shape the work we do. By listening first, we learn what matters most and allow those conversations to inspire what's next.

And we have been inspired!

A few weeks ago, we gathered at the Missouri History Museum, where Dr. Jody Sowell shared his inspiring "I Am St. Louis presentation. We left energized — not just by the history of our region, but by the incredible people, organizations, and opportunities that make St. Louis such a special place.

That inspiration came full circle this week when our Executive Director, Mark Munsell, was invited to speak at the Mirowitz Center. Building on Jody's message, Mark shared a presentation called I Am Geospatial in St. Louis. He highlighted how geospatial connects industries, strengthens our region, and why collaboration is at the heart of GeoSTL's mission.

It was a wonderful reminder that when we listen to one another, ideas grow, inspiration spreads, and our region becomes stronger because of it.

Thank you to everyone at the Mirowitz Center for such a warm welcome, and to Dr. Jody Sowell for sparking a conversation that continues to inspire us. We're grateful to everyone who shares their ideas, passion, and vision for St. Louis with us. We can't wait to see where the next conversation leads.

Strong partnerships build stronger regions. šŸ¤

This week, the GeoSTL team had the opportunity to meet with leadership from the SIUE Graduate School to explore how we can strengthen connections between research, talent, innovation, and industry across the St. Louis bi-state region.

Universities play a vital role in the geospatial ecosystem—preparing tomorrow’s workforce, advancing research, and creating opportunities for collaboration that drive innovation and economic growth.

We’re grateful to Dr. Christopher Slaten, Dr. Randy Spears, Carolyn Butts-Wilsmeyer, and the entire SIUE Graduate School team for the thoughtful conversation and warm hospitality.

SIUE is one of the outstanding institutions helping shape the future of geospatial in our region. Alongside Saint Louis University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Missouri–St. Louis, Harris-Stowe State University, Lindenwood University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, the University of Missouri, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, St. Louis Community College, Southeast Missouri State University, and our many industry and government partners, we’re building a stronger, more connected geospatial ecosystem.

The future is collaborative, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

St. Louis, this is day one.

Yesterday afternoon, we convened our first coalition meeting as GeoSTL, and officially introduced GeoSTL as a new organization — evolving out of the Greater St. Louis, Inc. GeoFuturesSTL Initiative to carry this important work forward.

The coalition, built over years of collaboration, came together to continue the work of strengthening the region’s geospatial ecosystem. The conversation was focused, collaborative, and full of momentum.

GeoSTL exists to strengthen the St. Louis geospatial ecosystem by connecting talent, accelerating innovation, supporting business growth, and growing economic opportunity across the region.

This work is rooted in place. In St. Louis. With St. Louis. For St. Louis.
We’re excited to get to work, and grateful to be building what comes next together.
