🦆 EVENING DUCK HOURS THIS WEEK!

Our usual morning duck crew is off on an adventure this week! ⛺

For Wildcat safety, the library will stay empty during school hours and ducks will arrive after work in the evenings (typically around 4:30pm).

Yesterday, Kiddo kicked off spooky season with BLACK.
Today, we're moving on to ORANGE.

Pumpkins? Obviously. 🎃
Devils? Sure.
Bats? Yep.
Basketball? …listen, he’s orange and he showed up for work. 🏀😂

If you're orange, orange-ish, pumpkin-adjacent, or simply willing to commit to the theme, you're in.

Welcome to Day 2 of spooky season, where apparently we're just sorting the Duck Library by Halloween colors now. 😂

First weekend of October means it's officially time. 🎃

Kiddo was given the honor of choosing our first spooky-season theme.

Ghosts? Witches? Monsters?
Nope.

He chose BLACK. 😂

And honestly? He delivered.

We've got vampires. Skeletons. Creepy creatures. An 8-ball. Several ducks who look like they know something we don't.

And enough tiny black weirdos to make this feel mildly ominous.

🐧🦆 THE DUCK LIBRARY TAKES A FIELD TRIP

Little OG SP Duck Library went to the zoo today. 🦆🦁🐯

Naturally, he brought a duck.

A penguin.

Because apparently he is still holding a grudge.

For those who don't know: Henry Vilas Zoo removed their penguins four years ago, and our tiny traveling duck (and his penguin obsessed handler) has apparently decided that this matter is NOT. DUCKING. SETTLED. 😂

So today they:

visited the zoo ✔️

saw the penguins that aren't there ✔️

stood outside the former penguin situation ✔️

posed with several animals ✔️

got himself relocated to the zoo ✔️

remained deeply committed to his cause ✔️

Was this a normal family zoo trip?

No.

Was it an opportunity for a tiny rubber penguin (and his penguin loving handler) to make a four-year-old grudge tour?

Absolutely.

We put hats on ducks.
Then we found crowns.
Then we found more hats.

And now nobody is allowed to leave until they look fabulous.

It’s Sports Ball Saturday at the Duck Library!

The ducks are geared up.
The balls are balling.
There are approximately 700 different balls involved, and nobody seems to know why. 😂

We’ve got soccer, basketball, football, baseball, hockey, and at least one duck who appears to have shown up without knowing what sport they're playing.

And with Play It Again Sports - Sun Prairie, WI having their grand opening this weekend, we're feeling pretty sporty around here! 🎉

We had to remove this little guy from the Duck Library, but we believe he may have originally been donated by a kiddo in the neighborhood.

If you recognize him as one of yours, send us a message! We'd love to get him back to his original home. ❤️

Forget Dewey Decimal. We have Ducky Decimal.

The collection is now organized by color because apparently this is what duck librarians do when left unsupervised.

Black. Blue. Green. Grey. Orange. Pink. Purple. Red. White. Yellow.

And then there’s Glitter.

Glitter does not follow the rules. Glitter IS the rules. ✨

Sun Prairie Public Library — we tried. Please don’t revoke our library card privileges. 😂
