Some of the biggest discoveries begin at an incredibly small scale.
On National Nanotechnology Day, RHK Technology is celebrating the researchers exploring surfaces, materials, and phenomena where the details are measured in billionths of a meter. From seeing atomic-scale structures to investigating new material behaviors, nanoscale research is helping expand what we understand about the world around us.
Here’s to the researchers asking big questions at the smallest scales. 🌎🔬
RHK Technology’s VT Beetle systems provide variable-temperature UHV SPM capabilities for both STM and AFM. With a wide operating range from 25 K to 1500 K, the Beetle enables researchers to study materials and surfaces across a broad range of temperatures. Users can easily switch between STM and AFM in UHV while also exchanging and storing samples, tips, and probes without breaking vacuum.
The Beetle can also be integrated with RHK’s preparation and analysis chambers to create a multi-technique nanotechnology research platform. Depending on the configuration, systems can incorporate sample manipulation and transfer, specialized preparation and analytical tools, thermal control, electrical connections, and other capabilities designed around the researcher’s specific needs.

45 Years of Seeing the Invisible
In September 1981, Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer published their groundbreaking work on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), opening a new window into the atomic-scale world.
What began as a revolutionary approach to imaging surfaces has evolved into a powerful family of scanning probe techniques used by researchers around the world.
At RHK Technology, we're proud to be part of that continuing story, by developing instrumentation and control technology that helps researchers push the boundaries of STM, AFM, and scanning probe microscopy.
45 years of STM. Decades of revelations. And the next breakthroughs are waiting to be discovered.
