I just learned this morning that the Poetry Center will be closed for a summer break starting tomorrow morning!

They will reopen on Tuesday, July 21st, so please hold on to your book donations until then!

I just learned this morning that the Poetry Center will be closed for a summer break starting tomorrow morning!

They will reopen on Tuesday, July 21st, so please hold on to your book donations until then!

For the of you wanting to drop off books at our donation bin, be aware that the Poetry Center has moved to their Summer hours!

We find all sorts of bookmarks in our donated books - recipes, wedding invites, postcards, movie schedules, airplane boarding passes, candy wrappers - if it's flat, it gets used.

Newspaper clippings aren't as common anymore, but they still show up. This one from nearly 70 years ago is notable.

UPDATE!
Big heartfelt thanks to the donor who dropped off six (6!!) boxes of science fiction and fantasy at our Poetry Center bin.
It is quite a collection that had been lovingly stored and cared for.
We will put the books to very good use - they will make a lot of people happy.

Doing your New Years refresh and clean out?

When you sort through your books, think of us for your fantasy and science fiction novels!!

These genres are much loved and ALWAYS in demand.

We had a great time with on Friday writing notes and thoughts of support to our community members in Arizona prisons for the holiday season. It is always a great event that is a great start to celebrating gratitude, generosity and connections for this time of year.

Unfortunately we learned about a new policy from AZ Dept of Corrections that will restrict general mail starting next week. While Read Between the Bars won't be impacted at the moment, this is the start of a restriction on outside communications that keep people connected, which aids in reducing recidivism and crime.

We are still learning about the impacts of this, so stay tuned for next steps.
