Scarritt Foundation

The Scarritt Foundation mission is to help save the lives of animals in need.
Sometimes, the animal you save is also the one saving you.
Leo will tell you that the bond he shares with Chimera is hard to explain. She follows him everywhere. She sleeps beside him every night. And during one of the hardest periods of his life, when connection and hope were difficult to find, she was there.
Then Chimera became critically ill.
Leo knew she was fading quickly, and the veterinary care she needed was more than he could afford. That’s when he found Scarritt Foundation.
With support from the Foundation and the extraordinary care of our independent veterinary partners, Chimera got the treatment she needed — and came home to Leo.
This is why we do this work.
Because sometimes critical veterinary care doesn’t only save an animal.
It protects a relationship.
It keeps a family together.
And sometimes, it protects something as simple — and as powerful — as hope.
Leo & Chimera.
One of our Scarritt Stories.
Protecting the love we share.

On October 23, we’ll gather at The Westin La Paloma for the 2026 Fur Ball Gala—bringing together an extraordinary community of chefs, makers, animal advocates, friends, and supporters for an evening rooted in Tucson, generosity, and purpose.
Great food. Great people. A little dancing. A lot of heart.
And most importantly, a chance to help Scarritt Foundation continue supporting the people, pets, veterinarians, and organizations doing critical work across our community.
We’d be honored to have you at the table.

We’re thrilled to welcome Lori Medcoff to the Scarritt Foundation Board of Directors.
Lori’s lifelong passion for animals has long been a part of the Medcoff family story — and, as Timothy will happily tell you, helped inspire his own commitment to animal welfare. As Lori joins the Board, Timothy Medcoff will continue his service to the Foundation in a new role as Board Advisor and Legal Counsel.
We’re incredibly grateful to have them both in our corner as we continue strengthening the bond between people and the pets they love.
