I hope this message reaches all my neighbors…and their friends/family.

I just spoke with a lady who wanted to see if she had over overpaid for Locksmith services this weekend. Her brother-in-law was suffering in medical emergency and could not come to the door, which was locked. A “ Locksmith.” was called.
The gentleman told them that the Locks could not be picked and must be drilled and replaced.
There are certain locks and/ or occasions were drilling the locks are necessary, so I don’t take issue with that part of this scenario
However, this lady was charged over $1000 to drill and replace two locks. She and her husband felt they had no choice because of the circumstances.
PLEASE, when searching for a Locksmith, look for these things:
Oklahoma license number. It is required on all advertising and signage.
Signage on the vehicle, identifying the company.
Ask for an estimate before contracting the service. Not all circumstances can be foreseen, but an experience Locksmith will ask questions to narrow down an estimate.
NEVER NEVER NEVER call a service who advertises “24-7”.  Most of these ads are placed by call centers 1500 miles away and employ untrained/unqualified people who will charge as much as they think you will pay.

It is also wise to obtain more than 1 quote.
