Functional Health Coaching services specializing in gut health, hormone balance, nervous system support, and sustainable weight loss for women.

Hi, I’m Michelle Peña, Integrative Health Practitioner, Functional Wellness Coach, and Speaker. For over 25 years, I’ve been immersed in the health and wellness industry, both professionally and personally. But after being told “your labs look normal” while battling burnout, gut issues, inflammation, and mold toxicity, I knew there had to be more to the story. That experience led me on a mission to uncover the root causes of health imbalances and become a fierce advocate for women’s whole-body healing. Today, I help women restore energy, balance hormones, and heal their bodies from the inside out through functional nutrition, lab testing, and lifestyle medicine. As a speaker, I share real-life, science-backed, and soul-centered insights at corporate wellness events, women’s conferences, and professional summits, helping audiences understand how to reclaim their vitality and align their health with their purpose. If you’re ready to heal deeply, feel better in your body, and live with more energy and intention, you’re in the right place.

recovering high achievers, tired nervous systems, women who were told their labs were fine and knew that wasn’t the whole story, I see you ✨

let’s build a version of you that doesn’t run on cortisol and caffeine and white-knuckling through burnout because that’s what we were taught strength looks like.

I remember every detail of your story, and I built this practice because I got tired of watching high performing women get dismissed instead of actually understood.

if that’s you, you’re in the right place

“Be still” sounds simple unless your identity has been built on doing.

Stillness isn’t a test you either pass or fail spiritually, it’s a skill your nervous system builds, the same way you’d build any other muscle.

Being still requires a nervous system that isn’t stuck bracing for the next threat.

You can want to be still and still feel like your body won’t let you.

I know many of you can relate, so what’s the next step? How do you help your nervous system calm down?

Here’s where you start:

Change your physical state before you try to change your mind. Cold water on your wrists, a slow exhale longer than your inhale, feet flat on the floor.

Your body has to feel safe before your mind can believe it.

Practice stillness in small doses, not all at once. If ten minutes of quiet feels impossible, start with ninety seconds.

Your nervous system builds tolerance to stillness the same way you’d build tolerance to anything else.

You may not realize this, but many women don’t start building the thing they really feel called to build until midlife.

The average age a woman starts a business is around 42 to 43, and so many business ideas, career pivots, and new chapters begin after 40 because by then you have lived enough life to know what matters.

You have experience, wisdom, pattern recognition and resilience. Plus you have a deeper sense of what you want and what you no longer want to keep carrying.

Your health has to become part of the strategy, not something you keep pushing to the side.

Because the energy you have, the clarity you feel, the way your nervous system is functioning, the way your blood sugar is regulated, the way you sleep, digest, recover, and handle stress all shape your capacity to build.

You can have the vision, the calling, the ideas, and the desire to create something meaningful, but if your body is constantly running on empty, it becomes so much harder to follow through.

So if you want more energy, less brain fog, better focus, and the capacity to build what is in your heart to do, your health cannot be an afterthought.

It has to become part of how you build.

Ever wonder what burnout looks like on your labs?

DM me the word LABS to get a copy of a guide I put together called Labs to Ask Your Doctor For.

I order labs on my clients all the time, but if you are looking to get them done through your physician, so insurance will cover this is a great guide to grab!!

Waking up at 2 or even 3am and having a hard time falling back to sleep is more nuanced than you might think.

It’s not always peri/ menopause or anxiety or insomnia, sometimes it’s a simple as keeping your blood sugar stable throughout the day to set yourself up for a good night’s sleep.

As I said, a lot of bringing balance back to your body is nuanced, there’s not one quick fix. We have to clear the muddy waters, look at your foundations and test instead of guess.

Send me a DM to continue the conversation.

Perimenopause can absolutely affect energy and hormonal changes during this stage of life can contribute to fatigue, sleep disruption, and brain fog.

But many women are told their exhaustion is simply “perimenopause,” when in reality there are often several underlying factors affecting how their body produces and sustains energy.

Blood sugar instability, chronic nervous system stress and gut dysfunction are three of the most common drivers I see.

When glucose levels are fluctuating, the brain doesn’t receive a steady fuel supply.

When the nervous system has been under prolonged stress, cortisol rhythms and sleep quality can be disrupted.

And when the gut is inflamed or not functioning well, nutrient absorption and inflammation levels can directly affect energy.

Perimenopause can amplify these imbalances, but it is rarely the sole cause of fatigue.

This is why I approach healing in layers, beginning with foundational systems like gut health, stress physiology, and metabolic stability before focusing only on hormones.

If you have been told everything looks normal but you still feel exhausted, there may be more going on beneath the surface.

Strong women don’t abandon themselves.
But many of us were taught that self-abandonment was strength.

We learned to push through.

To over-function.

To keep the peace at the expense of our nervous system.

Over time, that kind of “strength” doesn’t stay emotional.

It shows up in the body, as chronic stress, inflammation, hormone imbalance, gut issues, fatigue, burnout.

This isn’t a mindset issue.

It’s biology responding to years of living in survival mode.

Boundaries aren’t selfish.

They’re nervous system protection.

They’re part of healing at the root.

Strong women don’t suffer for their strength.

They learn how to feel safe again.

Pause. Breathe. Save this. Your nervous system matters.

Nothing’s wrong. I’m doing great. Was just having a moment of reflection and gratitude. Wanted to this share with you all mainly because I love inspiring others, and I love sharing a glimpse of my life and hopes that it helps you in someway.

Last year was a very rough year. I had post concussion syndrome, a jaw fracture and severe whiplash from an e-bike accident in December 2024. So I’ve had a lot of time to reflect, to heal my body and most importantly to heal my nervous system.

Obviously, I’m a deep thinker. If you know me, you already know that lol.

I used to wish that I was different, that I could be this ruthless person that could power through anything but that’s not me.

I realize all the things that I’ve ever tried to control in my life I never really had control of anything. It was all an illusion!

God is always good. He’s faithful and his love is unconditional.

A verse I’m really leaning into this year is Romans 8:28 and I love the passion translation version,

“So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God‘s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose”

Are you confused on what and how to eat to feel better?

Many women have tried cutting carbs, eating clean, tracking macros, or following the latest trend and still feel tired, bloated, inflamed, or stuck.

Feeling better is not about the perfect diet.

It is about understanding your body, your stress, your gut, your hormones, and your nervous system.

That is where a root cause approach matters.

Sometimes food is only part of the picture, and functional medicine labs help us see what is actually happening beneath the surface.
