We are thrilled & honored with the opportunity to be part of this critical & important report published by Animal Protection New Mexico. With incredibly valuable insight & contributions from Animal Welfare professionals across the state...our hope is this tool will aide in state oversight, education & needed improvements in NM Animal Welfare.

"Building a stronger animal services system means giving communities the resources and support they need to care for animals.

Today, Animal Protection New Mexico is releasing Animal Services in New Mexico: A Needs Assessment for the North Central Region (2026), the first assessment of its kind in New Mexico.

Based on 100+ interviews, Tribal engagement, site visits, and extensive research, the report examines animal shelters, animal control programs, equine programs, and animal-related disaster preparedness and response.

While the assessment focuses on north central New Mexico, its findings point to challenges facing communities across the state—and the need for a coordinated statewide approach."

We are sharing a few photos of the NMDOG case study included in the report as well as a few of the photos NMDOG contributed. If you are a stakeholder in NM Animal Welfare or just interested in the history & current state of Animal Welfare in our state, we highly suggest you take some time to read the full 154 page report. Its very informative & we learned a lot during our participation.

This past weekend, the NMDOG Board of Directors enjoyed our 2nd annual Board field trip to New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch - WNCRs Day at the Ranch ❤🐴

We are always amazed by this organization, their staff/volunteers, their facility & all of the special equines they assist with top notch care. Thank you Walkin N Circles, for all you do for so many!! We had such a great time at the Ranch & we learned so much!!

This year, the NMDOG Board chose to sponsor Armando, a special permanent Ranch sanctuary gelding who contributes so much to the training, rehab & companionship to other horses, fillys & foals at the Ranch. With his calm, gentle & compassionate demeanor, Armando assists others who may be struggling. Armando reminds us so much of NMDOG Co-Founder JoJo & we understand what an important & valuable member of the Team he is 🥰 Good boy, Armando!

If you arent familiar with WNC, please visit their sites & learn more. This is a wonderful organization providing essential care to many Equines in need. They are very deserving of the support.
