As the summer winds down and we are gearing up for a new semester at BSK, we can’t help but reminisce on the amazing travels the BSK Community had these last two months! Whether it be Florida, Alabama, or D.C., BSK faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees and friends gathered at 3 different denominational meetings this summer. We are so thankful for our amazing partners at Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Progressive National Baptist Convention, and Nbca Intl!

"Vitoria brings a wealth of experience from hospitality management to her new role at the seminary. Her event planning and coordination experience will be vital to the Academic Office’s administration of various grants and subgrants with key seminary partners. Her management and technology experience will also be valuable to the Academic Office’s work of administering the seminary’s academic degree and certificate programs, as well as providing light technical support to faculty and students."

While representing BSK at the Progressive National Baptist Convention Annual Session, Dr. Jaye Lynn Peabody Smith and Dr. Anthony Everett connected with Representative James E. Clyburn!

James E. Clyburn is the U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives and Chairman of the Democratic Faith Working Group. He previously served as Assistant Democratic Leader from 2011 to 2018 and 2023 to March 2024, and House Majority Whip from 2019 to 2022 and 2007 to 2010, making him the first African American to serve multiple terms as Majority Whip. A native son of South Carolina, Clyburn has represented the state’s Sixth Congressional District since 1993.

Our friends at Faith Baptist Church have invited the BSK Community to a special event this Sunday, July 12. The church will be celebrating the release of Dr. Greg Earwood's book, "Memorable Mountains in Matthew." Dr. Earwood is President Emeritus at BSK!
