September is Su***de Prevention Month – a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and make sure our neighbors know where to turn for help.

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD offers su***de prevention resources and operates a 24/7 Crisis Access Line at 713-970-7000. Anyone in crisis or who needs someone to talk to can also call or text 988 for free, confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

📞 While both numbers provide immediate 24/7 emotional support and crisis intervention, calling The Harris Center's direct line ties you immediately into their specific local mental health authority ecosystem, which includes local psychiatric services, ongoing care coordination, and community-based mobile crisis outreach.

One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and early detection can save lives. Everyone deserves access to state-of-the-art preventive care, regardless of their income or insurance status.

The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis is partnering with Harris County Public Health to host Fall Into Wellness, a community event providing free cancer screenings to eligible residents along with other resources and fun for all.
