How Bad Do You Want It? | Pastor Terry | Life According to Paul
God’s grace changes us—but change can be hard. What happens when we sincerely want to grow, yet find ourselves returning to old habits and familiar responses?
In this message, Pastor Terry connects Titus 3:3–8, Romans 7:19, and Philippians 3:13–14 to explore our desire to become more like Jesus through five questions:
• What do you want?
• How bad do you want it?
• Is the thing you want the thing God wants for you?
• What are you willing to give up in order to have it?
• Are you willing to declare it before you hold it in your hand?
Be encouraged to depend on Christ, devote yourself to doing good, and keep pressing while you’re changing.
“I haven’t arrived, but this one thing I do—I keep pressing.”
Grace meets you where you are, but God’s work in you doesn’t stop there. Letting grace get personal means letting Him address the habits and reactions you’ve learned to excuse.
Pay attention to where you’re resisting change, and take one honest step toward obedience today.

No, I haven't arrived.
No, I'm not perfect.
No, God isn't finished with me.
But don't confuse unfinished with unchanged.
I don't respond the way I used to respond.
I don't chase what I used to chase.
Some things that used to control me don't control me anymore.
Some places I used to run to, I don't even want to go.
That's not me. That's grace. Paul says grace appeared, grace teaches, and grace is getting a people ready for glory. I'm somewhere between the two — between grace and glory — and I'm becoming. 🙌
I'm not finished — but I'm not who I was.
If that's your testimony too, type "NOT WHO I WAS" below. Somebody in the middle of their process needs to see they're not alone.

Grace means your past doesn’t get the final word. It doesn’t erase where you’ve been—it opens a different way forward.
That new direction takes shape in everyday choices: telling the truth, making amends, choosing obedience over an old habit. Take the next step with the grace God gives you today.

Somebody needs to hear this today: you are not failing just because you're not finished.
Titus 2:12 says grace TEACHES us. And teaching means repetition. Correction. Homework. Sometimes not getting the lesson right the first time — or the fifth.
A student in the middle of a course isn't a dropout. They're in process. And being in process is not the same as making no progress. 💛
Every time you say "no" to the old you, you're making room for a "yes" to who grace is forming you to become. That's not slow. That's growth.
Don't confuse being in process with not making progress. Grace is still teaching you — and Grace has never lost a student who stayed in class.

"God, change my situation."
"I'm using the situation to change you."
"God, change these people!"
"I'm changing how you respond to people."
"God, get me out of here."
"I'm not done working in you here."
Here's the hard truth from Sunday: if God changes everything AROUND you without changing anything WITHIN you, you'll recreate the same problem in a new place. New job — same me. New relationship — same me. New city — same me.
So maybe the prayer has to shift.
Not just "Lord, change it."
But "Lord, while You're changing it — change ME." 🙏
Pray that one this week and watch what God does.
